I wish they let her be more than Morgause's pawn when she was queen of Camelot. They really haven't handled this villain thing well. Though Katie is good at acting evil.

I saw the tv episode of The Queen with Katie as princess Margaret of England. It was depressing stuff. And it wasn't a good role for Katie. She had to be subdued most of the time and not very cheerful and she had to be done up in these awful 1950s fashions. She did get in at least one Katie smirk though, in one of the episode's brighter moments. Emilia Fox was the English queen Elizabeth II, her sister, and she wasn't very sympathetic, though that was not all Emilia's fault. Elizabeth was bloody mean in the episode. The English royalty's hangup over divorce that caused the whole trouble (the trouble over Margaret's "scandalous" romance) is ridiculous. Particularly seeing as the English king Henry VIII split England from the catholic church specifically so he could divorce, leading England into protestantism. Considering how much trouble resulted over the years from England becoming protestant (including much bloodshed), you'd think the English royal familly could at least keep the allowing divorce that they made the split for in the first place. Because of that divorce hangup, Margaret's uncle had to quit the throne when he married a divorcee and Elizabeth's son Charles couldn't marry the woman he wanted to for years and instead married a woman he didn't love.

The Queen was...decent but I thought Katie's acting was great. The story line, however, was a bit too stale

Well, it's really a documentary with dramatized scenes thrown in, which is why it doesn't work so well as a fiction film. You've got the narration and the footage of the real people and it actually kind of jars seeing the real Margaret and Elizabeth and then being told Katie and Emilia are them even if they look totally different. Katie did a good job, but her talent was really squashed by the limits of the role and the medium.

She seems to like roles involving royalty and nobility. There's this and there's Merlin and she was in The Tudors playing somebody who has sex with the king and her new film is about a woman who gets involved with a nobleman.

I watched the Tudors ep. She has hardly anything to say or do, but she looks marvellous. She meets Henry VIII in the woods and he takes her off to have sex with him and there's a brief sex scene and that's it.

Anybody have any thoughts on my new Katie avie?

Thanks. Katie has some of the best eyes in film and tv. In that pic her eyes are looking very intelligent. Which is fitting, because Katie is clearly no dummy.

And while we're at it, re Tom and Mary Collins, can I say how dumb it is for characters in an Arthurian setting to have names so English/Anglicized and so inappropriate for the era the Arthurian legend was founded on?

While Morgana was having the nightmares, her other powers hadn't activated yet, and she of course had no way of knowing how to use the power anyway hence she was vulnerable. Someone like Morgause probably could have protected her self before hand with a spell.

I very much doubt they had it thought out so well. Plus they seem to like Morgana sleeping.

LOL season 2 that's what she did the first half of the series tho she does have some beautiful nighties i must say
