Gwaine was born into a noble family. His father, a Knight, died in the service of Caerleon (located in Wales), and the King refused his mother's pleas for assistance, leaving the family destitute. This offense had a profound affect on Gwaine's view of nobility; corrupted by power and greed, they are not to be trusted. He set out from his home, traveling across Albion -- mostly its taverns -- drinking and fighting. He carries with him the only heirlooms he has: a gold ring and a dragon scale necklace that bears his family's crest. During his first visit to Camelot he was banished from the kingdom; though revealing his status would have spared him, he refused out of his distaste for Uther. Despite his distrust for nobility, and his initial disappointment at learning he saved a prince, he grows to respect Arthur and eventually becomes a Knight of Camelot. He's known for his skill with a sword.

Born to one of Camelot's Great Houses, Morgana is the daughter of Duke Gorlois and Vivienne of Cornwall (located in England). Her father served in battle with Uther, saving his life hundreds of times, and was his best friend and greatest adviser. Gorlois was killed in a battle into which Uther had sent him with the promise of reinforcements that never arrived. When Vivienne died is unknown, but after her father's death Morgana was taken in by Uther and raised as his ward. Morgana fought Uther from the beginning, resisting his will; her views on magic and class being greatly different from his. She has suffered from prophetic dreams since she was a child, though it wasn't until much later in life that she realized what they were. Eventually she developed other magical abilities. She is an accomplished swordswoman and is said to be Arthur's equal. She is renowned for her beauty.

They just look so -- Morgana looks so elegant and refined, Gwaine looks like he's been in a few fights and is a bit rough around the edges.

I imagine them having a very spirited flirtation. It might even be that Gwaine knows she's evil (at least, according to his friend, Merlin) but danm she's hot, and he can't resist verbally sparring with her just short of vocal foreplay.

It would've been interesting to have seen Gwaine in season one. Can you imagine his flirting with Morgana -- Arthur's jealousy! Make no mistake, season one Arthur would have been jealous.

Gwaine might even have flirted with Sophia -- or even Nimueh.

Why, this is what happens next:

Arthur barges in demanding to know just what exactly is going on in that room.

Morgana indignantly delclares that she is there in her capacity as an accomplished healer to see to any injuries and ailments from which Gwaine may be suffering.

Arthur dryly replies that Gwaine looks remarkably hale and active for a man allegedly in his sickbed.

Gwaine looses in his attempt to suppress his laughter.

Morgana storms out of the room.

Arthur abruptly follows her.

Perfect! I actually made that with a story of Morgana there to take care of Gwaine (as a favor to Merline), in mind. She comes in and he immediately starts flirting with her and Morgana is initially just appalled.
