I totally forgot about that moment. I think I need to re-watch Bloodlines, because I do love her in that episode, especially that moment with Rahl when he's torturing her., as messed up as that is.
Didn't she realize in that episode that she couldn't go back to the People's Palace if she failed him? We actually saw some fear from her character? __________________

From what I remember from that episode I think that was the realization. But I haven't seen that episode in ages. I think it was mentioned in that seen with Rahl at the beginning.
So happy Jess has got that job in the States . __________________

See, I think that was the saddest moment for that character. I mean, other than the part where Zedd almost convinces her to be good, then she gets shot. It was always such as strange dichotomy with Denna because she was always painted as this fierce warrior, but she was just always so afraid. Of pain, of rejection, of loneliness.

Jessica's new project has been announced- she's going to be appearing in the Starz network's 10-part "Magic City", starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, a mob/hotel drama set in 1958 Miami. Hope it will be successful- there's a couple of other 50s/60s era pilots this season that it will have to compete with, but I guess it's a good sign that it was ordered to series right away and bypassed the pilot stage. Filming is due to start in late June/early July.

First, gorgeous woman is gorgeous.
Second, I'm kind of sad that Starz isn't part of my cable package (because I refuse to pay the $15 or whatever extra a month for one channel) because I would really like to watch her in this. I love dramas from that era - and I think they've likely become more popular with the success of shows like Mad Men. I do wonder if they will make her put on weight though, since a lot of representation of women from that time tends to lean toward the more voluptuous body type and Jess is very petite. __________________

I wondered too if they would want her to put on weight for her new show - she looked great (imo even more gorgeous than she is now) a couple of years ago when she had a few more kilos on her. |

I don't think she'd have to gain a lot of weight. Maybe 10 lbs. She definitely have the curves, and they can dress her to show them. I think it'll just be a little easier if she gains a bit. __________________

Hopefully this show will get somewhere. I want Jessica to get a break in America. And well, right now it's just nice to see one of the LotS cast having a project.

Apparently Jess's character gets naked in the pilot
Now let's hope they don't shoot it strategically to hide everything |

Wow, she got breast augmentation? No judgment, really. If it makes her feel better about her body, more power to her.
And it's Showtime. They'll probably be a lot less chaste about "showing the goods," so to speak. With the cable networks like that, the only thing that I think is off the table for them is full frontal, or frontal shots below the waste. __________________

Whoopsie. Starz, not Showtime. And, yeah, that kind of changes things. I think Showtime is all but softcore porn after 9. But Starz...I imagine it'll depend on the context.

I agree with that you're saying, Beth. I mean even though it's set in the 50s/60s the writers with clearly come up with some way to get the female lead(s) naked..... . I mean, look at Spartacus or Camelot.

Not just that...but they seem to oversexualize women in shows about that era. Actually, there are always a handful overtly sexual women, some who are kind of walking the line of modesty meets whore and then there are the goody two shoes types.
That's not to say it's not artfully done in some cases. But I think women getting naked is just kind of a narrow way of expressing such things. Like the only value of a woman' sexuality in a show like this is through nudity. But I'm overthinking it, I'm sure. __________________
