No worries. I am still swooning over Craig and the kitten. It reminds me very much of Darken Rahl and the kitten but I am sure this kitten didn't share the same fate!

I guess I am a little hypocritical in that sense. Taking The Hobbit movies at the moment - there is quite a distinct split between people who like the movies, people who like both the movies and the book and people who love the book and hate the movies. I've seen so much hating going on about the films and how they deviate from the book but like you, I remind myself that film and book are two different mediums and should be enjoyed separately.

I guess I am going to give Reign another chance now that Craig is going to be in it. I'll just have to lock the history nerd away temporarily.

Heda_Khaleesi 08-03-2014 05:11 AM

Craig and the kittens pics

the trailer looks very promising and i'm sure Craig fits into this scenery perfectly. reminds me even a bit of Legend of the Seeker you know? the old, ancient time with kings, queens and reigning over a kingdom. getting nostalgic a bit :sigh:

LadyMaia 08-03-2014 01:08 PM

Have you all seen Craig swoon over the wolves/dogs at a European con last year I think...? He really is an animal lover!

I do love medieval/royal history and fantasy and I do love the fact that Craig seems to go for a lot of these kinds of roles.

I can see the nostalgia :) I'm led to believe that his character in Reign is going to be a super manipulative Catholic who controls the court from behind the scenes so it will be interesting to see what he brings to the show. Might turn me around on the matter!

Lauren Helen Graham 08-04-2014 11:02 AM

He swooned about wolves and dogs at a con last year? :look: No I haven't... Is there a video? Would you mind bringing it over, Marissa? :D

I guess Craig just loves those kind of roles, too :) Which I love as well. Although it might not be too accurate on the historical facts. And I'm glad that you will give the show another chance, Marissa. And if it's not your taste you at least get Craig in the second season ;)

That's what his role will be like? Another baddie role :P

Pickle-weasel! 08-04-2014 08:07 PM

He plays a lot of baddies, he's so good at it!

Yeah, he seems to play in a lot of genre roles, which works out for me because those just happen to be the types of things I love.

LadyMaia 08-05-2014 04:30 AM

I hope you can see this Kris and it's not blocked. There is no music in it so hopefully it's okay. And it's just super cute.

Here's a couple of pictures too:

:in_love: Animal lover :in_love:

I agree. I do love the roles that Craig plays. I have seen him in such a wide range in the 17 years I've been a fan (god I feel old) - I think he's so versatile.

http://i58.tinypic.com/5cnjn6.jpg

Most recently I've seen him play a Russian gangster (with a crazy flawless Russian accent) and a Navy officer (the uniform was divine) so I love that he tried a few new things in TV. I loved him in Shackleton's Captain which was like a docu-drama role. Has anyone seen that? I watched Diplomatic Immunity where he was a disgraced New Zealand diplomat - that was weird haha! He also did a great reality show where he was roughing it in Nepal which I found so interesting.

But yes...as an actor, he has quite an extensive resume! But like everyone, I think he plays historical/fantasy baddies to perfection!

*sound like such a fan girl...*

Lauren Helen Graham 08-05-2014 12:17 PM

Aww, Marissa, thanks for the clip! I had no problem watching this one ;) And so cute, he's like a fan boy as well :D It's strange seeing an actor that way. But it's sooo cute if you ask me. They are just people as well.

And look at the pictures, he even got the chance to do a round with him. So cool!

I've never seen any of those projects of him. I saw him in LotS, LotR and NCIS :) Which was pretty cool! Oh, and then there was such a strange NZ show, kind of a reality show as well but I forgot the name of it. He was in one episode and I hated it, really...

It's pretty cool that you are such a fan girl :D It's the place to let it all out!

LadyMaia 08-06-2014 10:07 AM

No problem. I'm glad that you enjoyed it! He really is a fan boy haha!

A little off topic but I have just written a post on my blog about artists being just people. If you could check it out, I'd be ever so grateful because there are some proper horror stories out there at the moment and it makes me sad:

The Princess & The Insomniac

Yeah he looks so happy with the wolf :D

I have seen far too many of his shows and projects. Ah I know which you mean - Auckland Daze. That was incredibly weird!

I am such a fan girl of his. When I met him I told him I was trying so hard not to lose my mind which he found highly amusing haha!

Lauren Helen Graham 08-06-2014 10:41 AM

Oh yes, he is! And that makes him so sympathetic

Yes, Auckland Daze it was  Oh yes, weird might be the correct word for it. I somehow didn't get it but I'm not a native English speaker so maybe that's the reason? :look:

You know, you're a really sympathetic fan girl and I'm sure he appreciates that. I don't even want to know what kind of crazy people are trying to get the actors attention. :( I bet sometimes it's not too easy.

And I'll have a look at your blog post, Marissa ;)

LadyMaia 08-06-2014 10:49 AM

Yes, he is definitely one of the kindest most genuine actors I have met and I have met quite a few. That is also putting my favouritism aside.

Don't worry Kris. The language wasn't really a problem I don't think - it was the different sense of humour. I think New Zealand and England share similar humour (dirty minded, toilet humour, innuendo - sad but true!) but NZ also bring their own to their humour too which is why that show was incredibly strange.

Thank you Kris. I am really mindful of my behaviour when I meet artists because I don't want the experience to be awkward. With Craig it was really hard because I felt like I was having a meltdown but I think I managed to keep it together. I was just very quiet and blushing all the time haha!

Thanks a lot! I'm an aspiring writer and I co-write that blog with my friend. We are trying to get more of a following so I'm literally annoying everyone with it :P

Lauren Helen Graham 08-06-2014 11:04 AM

As far as I can tell I agree with you about Craig  There aren't a lot of those actors out there, at least not of those I've met already...

Yeah, it's possible to be the sense of humor  I really had problems with it because it was kind of over the edge. It was crazy... And it was so not my taste.

I'm sure you managed to keep it together. :) You don't seem to me like that kind of girl that would freak out and go crazy meeting her fav actor when being right in front of him. That's not the impression I have of you.

I read it and yes, it's pretty good and soooo true. Keep your blog going. :)

Pickle-weasel! 08-06-2014 06:46 PM

Oh Auckland Daze, man those show was awful (at least I thought so). I could barley stand to watch the scenes he was in, so not my cup of tea.

I would love to meet Craig cause he just seems like a generally nice and down to Earth guy, and who treats his fans so well.

It's nice to see some variety of our posters and I don't think we've really had one before where their favorite of the cast was Craig P, so that's really cool Marissa.

And that first picture of that wolf is adorable! I can't even.

LadyMaia 08-07-2014 07:10 AM

I thought so too Ria. I watched it in a state of perpetual confusion. It just seemed needlessly in-your-face.

Ah well I can't speak highly enough of Craig. It's already been 2 years since I met him but I still annoy my friends with stories about it :P I just keep hoping that he drops by the UK soon or I'll crash Germany to go see him at RingCon.

Oh really? Wow, I feel special :D To be honest, I don't know a lot of people who admire Craig unless they have already met him.

What happened with me is that my parents split up when I was young and I used to visit my Dad every time school broke up for summer. My dad loved shows from New Zealand so he hooked me on Hercules: the Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess from a young age. This is where I first saw Craig...bit of a change...

http://i57.tinypic.com/1zg3w42.jpg

He played...like a really charming Prince. Like a live action Disney prince :P I was a very smitten 8 year old and it just so happened that every year I went to see my dad, Craig was in something new - another episode of Xena/Hercules, LOTR, LoS etc. By that point I was hooked and I just watched all of his projects that I could. My dad has teased me ever since for the past 17 or so years and he still teases me to this day. I spoke to him on the phone this morning and he made reference to Craig being my Prince Charming.

*sigh* :P

Pickle-weasel! 08-08-2014 08:29 PM

That is a really cute story Marissa. I used to watch Xena when I was younger but I don't remember anyone Craig played, it was too long ago.

LadyMaia 08-09-2014 06:50 AM

Thanks Ria! Birth of a fan girl haha :D

Ahh Craig only had bit parts but he kept reappearing throughout both shows and spin-offs and I just loved every role he played - even the bad guys

*SPOILERS*

*********************

The picture in my previous post was his first appearance in Xena. He played Prince Sarpedon. He was in love with the princess of a rival kingdom and they were going to elope but Aphrodite was playing around and got the princess to fall in love with Joxer whenever he heard the sound of a bell. Here's another shot of him

http://i59.tinypic.com/10sg3m9.jpg

In season 4, Craig played King Cleades. He was a tyrant who learned his lesson when Athena turned him into a baby and his wife into an elderly woman who had to look after him.

http://i62.tinypic.com/20u8ml3.png

In season 6, he played Bellerophon - the son of Artemis. He wanted to wipe out the Amazon nation in revenge for turning their backs on his mother resulting in Xena killing her.

http://i61.tinypic.com/16i6qna.jpg

He also had a role in Young Hercules alongside a very young, very blonde Ryan Gosling. He played Lucius - Hercules psychotic half brother who wanted to prove that he was Zeus' favourite son.
