Yeah it's like you said, gif sets are awesome and I will always obsess over them on tumblr but the graphics seemed more personal, the artist having to take the time to blend and color and decide on what text to use if any. It wasn't quick like coloring a gif and then posting it. Also I would imagine getting a graphic that you worked on for a good while so many notes would be more flattering than a gif set almost anyone could make.
