No, they don't have to be dead, I agree. Just who you'd like to see as friends but likely won't happen.

Amelia's Top Five Four Friendships that Never (really) Were

1. Marcus Kane & Commander Lexa




Source deleted, but it was originally the100discussion on Tumblr, I think.

I think that Kane and Lexa would have come to have a great diplomatic relationship and political alliance.
You could already see a sense of mutual respect forming between the two of them in their limited scenes together.
I have a feeling that they would have worked well together to bridge the gap between their people even further,
and that under their leadership a lot of further rift could have been avoided.
It would have loved to see them debating and discussing tactical moves,
teaching each other about their respective cultures, and forming alliances against Ice Nation.

2. Wells Jaha & Raven Reyes

I was thinking of all the missed opportunities due to Wells's death, and this one hit me like a brick.
I think in the back of my head I knew people shipped it, but then I fell down the rabbit hole of their tumblr tag... and I'm gone.
Mutually supportive, kindhearted, the possible purest potential ship/friendship ever!

I know this is friendships that never were, and they probably actually were friends on some sort of surface level in canon,
or at least allies, but... I'm still putting it here.
They would have co-team teased the **** out of Bellamy,
and they'd probably have intellectual discussions about lots of things.
We could have had more!!!

4. Commander Lexa & King Roan

Okay, so you know how I said I would have wanted Lexa and Kane working together to break down Ice Nation?
Scratch that. What would have been even better is a Lexa and Roan friendship!!!!

I couldn't come up with a fifth, but... I have a lot of honorable mentions that kind of work but not really.

Laura Top Five Friendships that Never (really) Were

1. Lincoln & Harper

Totally a great potential for a great friendship!
We had some scenes in season 3 (3x01.3x04 for example)
Harper choosing the side of Lincoln in the 3x01 was a start.
I would have liked to see
Lincoln to teach Harper to fight

2. Harper & Octavia

Besides my choice of gifs I would like a better dynamic for these
two but already I would like Harper Octavia scenes that are not cut to the montage like that of gifs!
Despite the little interaction between them Harper worries about Octavia in the 4x05 and asks for this news,
to Clarke

3. Ilian Monty

They both killed their mother certainly not in the same conditions but ...
Monty will be the one who will warn Jaha that Ilian is without guard at the infirmary
I would have liked a friendship between these two (sorry no photos)

4. Abby & Lincoln

Lincoln could have become an advisor to Abby to teach him how to live better with the
grounders, I liked theirinteraction in the 3x02 & 3x04.
I would have liked more

5. Luna & Bellamy



We can not say that Bellamy appreciates the grounders but little
by little Bellamy create little interactions with them, Luna was one of the grounders I would
have liked see a friendship with Bellamy

Alexa's Favorite Friendships
that never were...


01. Clarke and Octavia
They've shared some minimal scenes together but I wouldn't say they had a friendship.
Ever since the pilot when they semi fought over Finn i really adored their interaction
and hoped they'd have a great friendship. Plus Marie and Eliza are so adorable, and seeing
that Bellamy is close to both of them I was hoping they'd have a stronger connection.

02. Monty and Octavia
I think it was episode 2 that they shared some scenes and ever since then I really loved
the idea of them together. Unfortunately their interaction never continued. We got a few
more scenes together in season 3 and I was hoping it would extend into a real friendship
but we never got it. I think they have a really cool, different dynamic because they
are such drastically different people. It's a bummer their friendship isn't stronger.

03. Bellamy and Wells
The books definitely gave me the idea for this one because they have such a bond in them
and unfortunately it didn't translate to the show. I am still bitter they killed Wells off so
soon because he's such a prominent character in the books but oh well.

04. Bellamy and Lincoln
We got small tidbits of some stuff between the two but it wasn't anything that significant
and seeing that Lincoln was dating Bellamy's sister, I really expected more of a bond
there, or at least more interactions. And Lincoln's death and how that transpired and
Bellamy's involvement in it just soured the whole interaction even further. What a shame.

05. Clarke and Lincoln
We got a few good moments between them and I would say that had a small friendship
but it wasn't as deep as I wanted it to be. I don't have a really good reason to want
to see these two as friends because it makes sense that they aren't in each others circles
often but I just really liked the chemistry between the two actors.


Honorary Mentions;
murphy/bellamy- i mean this isn't really a friendship is it? But I didnt include it because they get/got some great stuff.
murphy/clarke (kinda/sorta have a friendships so I didn't include them. but they'd probably be in the top)
jasper/octavia. I shipped it for a hot minute before Lincoln came into the picture and was hoping for some more stuff
between them but I am pretty satisfied with the stuff we did get.
murphy/octavia they're broth pretty okay?
jasper/raven. One of the few people I liked Jasper around. I thought they got some decent stuff at the end of season 3
though so I didn't include them either.
