Even though I'm not a huge Indra fan, her friendship with Kane is probably my favorite of her relationships, so I'm glad you have that on there.

I'm gonna have Roan in one of them on my list, too.

I can't wait to see how this dynamic progresses in season five. Will the time jump see Indra still loyal to Octavia? Will Indra abandon Octavia if Octavia starts making bad decisions?? It will be intriguing to see how these two progress from here.

Oh yes, it'll be interesting to find out if/how much their relationship has changed.

They really work well together, and I think they will be the ones who really keep the peace in the bunker for six years as representatives of their people.

I could see that too, as you mentioned in your post, they make the smart decisions behind the figureheads. They also know how to ease tensions, how to calm people down.

Marie's Top 5 Grounder x Arker Relationships/Friendships

1. Murphy & Emori

This relationship has been so cool to watch. These two started out
as totally selfish human beings, and then went through a Bonnie & Clyde
phase, and have now somehow transformed into people who have opened
themselves up not only to caring about each other, but about others as
well. They may be survivors who are always looking out for themselves,
but they’ve also become so much more than that both together and individually.

2. Clarke & Roan

Despite being leaders of two very different factions, Clarke and Roan
managed to build a friendship built on genuine respect and trust.
I like to imagine that in an alternate reality where they didn’t have
to protect their people from the end of the world, they would’ve had
lots of fun just hanging out and playing Mario Kart together. Or
grabbing late night pizza with their other pals, Echo and Bellamy.
Someone please make a sitcom out of this.

3. Octavia & Lincoln

I don’t really know what to say about these two other than…
they’re Linctavia! Together they’re sweet and loving and fierce as heck.

4. Clarke & Lexa

In my opinion the Clexa relationship really did the best job of exploring
the difficulties of falling in love across clan boundaries. Unlike other
grounder/skaikru romances, both Clarke and Lexa remained intensely
loyal to their respective people even while falling in love with each other.
This is another one that could’ve been great in an alternate reality where
they didn’t have the responsibility of protecting their people. But don’t
worry about making a sitcom with this one because there’s probably about
a thousand fan fics out there.

5. Kane & Indra

Kane and Indra are best friends and you will never convince me otherwise
even if she punched him in the face that one time.

April's Top 5 Grounder/Skaikru Relationships


This is a mess. All the gifs are different sizes and from different sources, but I tried.


1. Lincoln and Octavia



{X}

See, this, to me, is the relationship that does the best job of showing how
it's possible to form a connection and love someone regardless of where
you or they may come from. This is that relationship that, very early on,
was the symbolism of the hope for unity on this show. It's very epic and
star-crossed, and sure, it happens a little quickly for my taste (lord knows
I'm forever enslaved to a slow burn), but the chemistry between Ricky
and Marie was just incredible and palpable in every scene. I think Octavia
learned a lot from Lincoln--hell, everyone learned a lot from Lincoln--and
she inspired him, too, when he was at his lowest and struggling with his
addiction in season two. While Octavia has always been brave and always
been strong, some of her bravest, strongest moments came about because
of him. Now, perhaps, the bravest, strongest thing she can do is to live on
without him, to live and lead in a way that honors who he was, his memory.


2. Murphy and Emori

Don't hate me for this, Alexa, but I love these two together! I assume you
knew they'd already be on my list. From the second she showed up in the
second season, I liked their unique and flirty vibe. I like that, even though
he's in love now, Murphy is still Murphy and she doesn't change him. But
he has changed, though, in large part because he was like the Grinch who
didn't know he had a heart until it started to beat for her. They certainly
have their similarities and are the Bonnie and Clyde of the show, but one
of their most striking similarities is their devotion to each other. What has
happened between them has happened quickly, but it's still very strong.
I have high hopes for Emori next season, as I think she'll finally feel what
it's like to belong somewhere. And once his fellow delinquents see the
different sides of him, much of which are brought out around Emori, I think
that Murphy will be further accepted into the group as well. Plus, how could
I possible exclude a ship that honestly has the cutest-sounding name ever?


3. Bellamy and Roan

I know more people are likely to put Clarke/Roan on here, but this dynamic
is my absolute favorite Roan dynamic. I mean, the moment in the gifs above
makes me laugh no matter how many times I see it, because Bellamy is so
reluctant to apologize and Roan is so nonchalant about it. Really, what's not
to love about a relationship that starts out with one guy stabbing the other
and then getting shot in return? I think that Bellamy and Roan are actually
quite similar: they're passionate, strong, loyal, smart, and they both have
this tendency to just be 100% done with annoying things/people sometimes.
While it's a shame that Roan and Clarke never got to patch things up before
he died, I get the sense that Roan really respected Bellamy as a man, leader,
and person in general. This is evident to me in their last conversation about
Octavia, where he acknowledges what a good brother Bellamy is. I don't think
Bellamy ever particularly liked Roan, but that's oddly part of why I like them.


4. Octavia and Ilian

Hell, yes, I loved these two together! Since Ilian was one of the few grounders
I actually liked, I grew very attached to him very quickly. He was just genuinely
a nice, good guy, and I loved what he represented for Octavia. Here was this
guy who had killed his own family, yet he managed to continue on. He made
mistakes, but he also seemed to have this sense of optimism about him once he
returned to his sheep. Even with the world ending, he was never as dark as she
was, and I think she really learned something from him. Ultimately, he saved
her life in that conclave when he certainly didn't have to, and he paid the price.
This is a relationship that probably had the potential to become my number one
grounder/Skaikru relationship if we'd gotten to see more of it, but alas, we didn't.


5. Lincoln and Bellamy

I really love Bellamy and Lincoln's dynamic. The two people who care most
for Octavia Blake may not always get along, may be suspicious of each other,
but ultimately, they do seem to respect each other and acknowledge the role
they each play in Octavia's life. For Bellamy, allowing Lincoln to get so close
to Octavia is almost like a father having to let go of his daughter. Lincoln
really played a pivotal role in getting Bellamy to understand that his sister
was not this little fragile thing that needed to be protected and shielded from
the world, but rather that she was always strong, always a fighter, and that
Bellamy would need to give her room to grow and become her own person.
It's tragic that, even though he didn't kill Lincoln and didn't want him to die,
Bellamy was still a piece in the puzzle of Lincoln's death. That's unavoidable,
so that makes this relationship a very bittersweet one. I love it and miss it.

I choose to willfully forget that that one terrible thing happened between Kane and Indra. Like... that didn't even happen. Nope. They're bffs and nothing bad happened ever.

April... this is bad, but I legitimately forgot that Ilian and Octavia were a thing. I was putting together all possible grounder/skaikru relationships, and that one didn't even pop in my head. Oops @ me. I actually liked them, too, but I guess this goes to show how much Linctavia overshadowed that for me.

2. Octavia & Grounders Kids

Octavia never had any interactions with children
on the ark, the first was grounders. After being
saved by Artigas in the 2x02 Octavia saves the life
of Gavriel in the 3x06. I would like to see more Octavia scene with children


3. Octavia & Indra

Indra is a real support for Octavia all the more, after the
death of Lincoln even though their bond was developed in season2!
Indra is also the first person to whom Octavia spoke after killing
Pike !Indra has never abandoned Octavia while Indra has been
several times "betrayed" by the skaikru! She encourages and supports Octavia in her new leadership role and
I hope that Octavia will not turn
against her because of all the responsibility this entails

4. Lincoln & Clarke

Lincoln and Clarke have in common the drawing and I am very
frustrated never to have scenes between them drawing Even if I
hate what happened in the 1x07 all the scenes between
them after this episode I like! The potential for a great
friendship between them will frustrate me again for a while


5. Ilian &Octavia

I still want the writers to spoil a character such as Ilian. I loved in
the first few seconds the scenes of Ilian with Octavia especially
when Ilian bumps Octavia! I'm still very affected by the death
of Ilian. Ilian learned things from Octavia but she only realized it when he found herself in front
of her dying. In reciting, what Ilian had told him in the 4x09
Octavia realized his side was too dark and understood that it was time
to move on to his" next journey" ("next journey" word of Ilian 4x09)

Yeah, Octavia and Ilian were one of the first three that popped into my head (along with Linctavia and Memori), and then when I started thinking about it, I was like, "Oh man, I gotta make room for Bellamy and Roan on here." That "reluctant bromance" is literally what I talked to Zach about for three minutes.



ETA: Aww, Laura, your list is so you, and your number two is very interesting. I liked that Artigas kid!

I'm bummed Lincoln and Clarke didn't get more scenes and that they never really showed her having any reaction to his death.
