Thanks for the new one!

Now let me get to reading back and responding to posts from the last thread :D

Karma Police 05-30-2017 04:04 AM

You do that!

Okay, about that link Paulina posted.

1) I agree with this. I never mind seeing people hesitate to leave loved ones behind and I still think that Raven loves Clarke. But, I loved that Raven in this case had the "it needs to be done"-attitude

3) I agree. Characters like Raven & Clarke are presented differently. And I loved that it didn't in this case. But; I don't think Raven valued only her own life over Clarke's. Somehow I don't even feel like she valued anyone's life over Clarke. The choice was either only Clarke dies or they all die. And she chose not to die along with Clarke.

4) Same applies here; I don't necessarily think that Bellamy chose *just* Raven over Clarke. He chose that all people in the rocket should live instead of dying alongside Clarke.

So this,

And both Bellamy and Raven - in that moment - chose to save themselves, so I didn't necessarily see that as Bellamy choosing Raven over Clarke. I would have done the same in that situation, it was the only logical thing to do, taking aside whatever personal feelings that BR have when it comes to Clarke.

And IMO, she definitely felt something over having to leave Clarke behind ... maybe not as much as Bellamy but I don't agree that she felt zero emotions over having to shut that door and leave. Especially given that Clarke is staying behind to get the plan done and save them, even though she can't save herself.

5) I agree with all of that. Just all of that. I'm so happy the show is Really taking these characters beyond accommodating Clarke's story.

So I agree with these so much:

But to me it's about more than Clarke, it's about characters having their own journeys. In season 2 Monty and Raven were so underused and most of the time just used when their skills were needed, often to help Clarke.
Clarke is still the lead but you can have a lead and still give supporting characters their own story lines and journeys, season 4 was the strongest in that regard.

And I do agree that the narrative places Clarke over everyone else sometimes and it's great that this season in particular, that other characters like Raven, are allowed to shine more and showcase themselves separate from who they are to Clarke.

And yes, a show definitely needs to give all its characters storylines, but I actually feel like The 100 does a great job of that. That's something I'm actually going to talk about when I post some full season thoughts.

I think the show did a great job with it THIS season. Not so much in previous seasons :look:

tftnt!

TFTNT. Love the title, so true.

And glad that you're in agreement, Paula. :fist_bump:

April7739 05-30-2017 09:36 AM

Yeah, this season was a lot better in that regard than season 3. Part of the reason why the season 3 finale was so underwhelming to me was that it was just "Clarke saves the day" for the majority of it. Sure, she had help from the others on the outside, but the focus was really disproportionate.

Raven got a lot of good stuff in the finale.

Damocles 05-30-2017 11:56 AM

Yeah and sorry, but she didn't save the day - at least not alone. She wouldn't have even gotten in the CoL if it weren't for Raven. I never underestimate everything Clarke's done, but I feel like the 'glory' (if you can call it that) is often stripped from people like Raven and Monty.

Karma Police 05-30-2017 01:48 PM

 Just aks Bellamy:

How many times have you saved our asses before you ever heard of ALIE?

the1marie 05-30-2017 03:11 PM

Thanks for the new one! This title is so accurate

Karma Police 05-31-2017 01:21 AM

She is so resourceful and just never gives up. Her strength and resilience are inspiring.

 Arkers would be dead in the first few months without Raven or Monty. Not taking away from Clarke's contribution of course, but it's ridiculous to think that anyone can save everyone on their own. They all need help and support to do so.

And because I miss them :bawl: and Sinclair is SPOT ON about Raven, as always:

I'm Sinclair. I would choose Raven any way and twice on Sunday too.

destroyer of worlds 05-31-2017 07:51 AM

Same here, I'd pick her in a heartbeat.

And it'll make a great title, I think?

April7739 05-31-2017 07:57 AM

That line was perfect, and Alessandro's delivery was spot-on!
