Janet, it's never been this long for me but when I decided to leave my last job, I needed half a year to pull my head out of a really dark place. I had been in academia for years and years and when I started to look into jobs in the "real world", I felt like I had absolutely no skills applicable to the jobs I searched.

You can do it!!! And you could maybe low-key improve your french while you search? I did that in my unemployment with Coffee Break French and I loved it : https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...263170419?mt=2

Wow, that's a lot of people without power for a while. I go bonkers if the power goes out for one day, can't imagine an entire week!

Awww poor Arnold! for him. It's frustrating for him and also you since you can't really tell him why. Though I have to giggle at his ~serious face in the first cone picture. Poor dude.

Oh wow, but super glad you still have your existing job, Kate! And yes, fingers crossed that you do hear from the U.S. company soon. You never know.

Thanks ladies. I am feeling better. Though the other night a coworker asked if I was possessed - I guess my voice had dropped that low.

So my cousin got engaged around Christmas and has now set the date. She's getting married in April. Which means I really need to finally finish the afghans for my other cousins' babies so I can start the one for her.

Yikes! I've had that comment before too when I was sick, my client commented that I sounded like a dude. Glad to hear you're feeling better though.

It's almost midnight and I just finished the rest of the Cheetos I had. My life choices, SMH.

Sarah, my aunt got her power maybe 12 hours before we got ours back so we all headed over to her place and all the kids (there must have been at least 5 of us) piled in her bed and watched tv. According to my mom we all had glazed looks on our faces.

I'm working from home again today I don't like the looks of one of Arnold's mouth stitches, and he has a vet appointment tonight so I want to keep an eye on him until then.

Speaking of crafts...I went to 3 different craft stores today and have had no luck finding yarn for this afghan. I have an idea of the pattern I want to use but can't figure out a color combo.

Also while out today I did some bra shopping. I was texting with my best friend about it - just generally complaining about what a pain it is and lopsided boobs. Well I'd also been texting with this guy today and almost sent him one of the texts about the bras and boobs. SO GLAD that didn't get sent. I've sent a number of texts on accident but that potentially could have been the worst. He and I aren't there yet. Part of what I like about this guy is that he hasn't tried talking about anything physical. Most guys want to talk about kissing or my boobs right away. It's been refreshing to have a guy be respectful and allow time to build up to that. Don't want to ruin that.
