I'm so glad that Madi has survived and that she still has the flame ... hope she keeps it forever ... that makes S6 more interesting IMO

Glad that Madi survived, still unsure about her leading the remnants of Wonkru but without her, they wouldn't have unified.

Though I wonder with Lola's growth spurts, how they'll film her in season 6 since I'm guessing that she'll be in part of it at least.

No they wouldn't have

Not sure how they will manage that either when filming next season

Good question! They can't say cryo stops growth since Diyoza's still pregnant.

Her eyes look so stunning there.

Have you guys watched the blooper reel for season 5? Lola was adorable, with her hiccups.

I’m glad Madi didn’t die (didn’t think she would), but I’m not pleased that she still has the flame. First of all, that archaic leadership system has no place in what is quite literally going to be a new world. Second, I feel like it makes Madi a little bit of a Deus ex Machina. Now whenever there’s a problem, the audience is going to think, “Okay, well, Madi, close your eyes and come up with the solution like you magically did in 5x13.” If Madi is going to be a leader, I’d like to see her develop that leadership and those decision-making skills and strategic thinking, rather than just inheriting it from the flame.

I kind of agree, April? The main problem that I have with the Flame still being in Madi is that some people are projecting Lexa onto her and therefore shipping Clarke/Madi. (it's not just Lexa but all the commanders' memories that she can access) And also, sometimes you can't tell how much of it is the Commanders vs. what Madi is really thinking/saying. That scene where Bellamy is trying to convince Madi not to kill the Eligius prisoners is one example, so is Madi trying to get through to Clarke in 5X12.

But in that scene where Madi tells Bellamy about the radio for example, you can tell that is all Madi and not the Flame speaking.

Some sick people ship Clarke/Madi? That's disgusting!
Madi was an interesting character before she had the flame, but now, with the flame, she is even more interesting for me.
With every decision she makes, you ask yourself "Was that a commander/flame influenced decision or did she decide on her own?"
Plus, Madi has something misterious since she has the flame in her head
I also think, Madi telling Bellamy about Clarke's radio calls was pure Madi, without any flame influence

But see, Sonja, that’s where the issue comes in for me. I can’t tell what’s Madi and what’s Flame!Madi anymore. (Now a scene like her telling Bellamy about Clarke’s radio calls is an exception. That’s very clearly just the kid talking there.) But when she orders all the Eligius people to be killed, is that Madi or Flame!Madi? Or a combination of the two? We really run the risk of losing our grasp on her character because the flame is altering her character.

Plus, like I said, this archaic system of leadership has no place in a new world, IMO. Clearly if the flame contained all this wisdom, the whole Commander system and conclave would have been overhauled a long time ago, because it was a violent system that has never truly worked. And are we really going to entrust the fate of humanity to a 12 year old?

I would say that it was mostly the Flame telling Madi that the Eligius people needed to die. She has no real allegiance to Wonkru since she was just starting to train with them when she and Clarke had to bail.

I do believe though that there is some benefit that can be gleaned from the Commanders’ past experiences even if I generally don’t like the idea of the Flame. So I don’t really agree that the system was entirely bad, it was their belief system and their culture for many years and there is something to be said for that.

And yup, Sonja. It’s sickening that people do that and parallel CL scenes with Clarke/Madi scenes. She is a child, Clarke’s child and it’s not right at all.

But exactly that makes Madi's character interesting for me, and we need interesting characters on the show ... I loved it how they all bowed down to a 12 year old girl and followed her orders ... all except Bellamy ... he knew a better solution (saving Prisonkru) and the flame allows Madi to make her own choices ... the flame doesn't take over Madi's mind

The flame is a learning computer programm, which supports thinking ... and it's a learning programm
All experiences of all commanders are in the flame and every commander can learn out of the faults of the past commanders ... although the flame can use the positive experiences of the past commanders ... so the flame gets better from commander to commander
Lexa did better than the past commanders and Madi did better than Lexa
Madi knew from Lexa that it's not the right thing to do, to betray someone to save some others and Madi conviced Clarke to do better

For me, Madi and the others can only benefit from the flame and they can create their own Commander system where violence is only needed if there is no other choice
A system that adapts to the conditions of the new world
Madi has so much good influence and protection through Clarke, Bellamy, Gaia, Indra, Echo
I'm sure they make the best out of it, like we've seen in S5

I agree with this I feel like we're starting to lose the real Madi because the flame is ifluencing her so much. To me it's kind of sad. Madi is a child, and she has this huge responsibilty thrust upon her and it feels like the flame is taking away some of her autonomy to decide for herself who she wants to be
