I'm guessing that they'd reunite a few episodes in so that possibility of Kane/Murphy interaction is still there, IMO.

Yes, the possibility is still there.
I think the finale proved with it's Monty/Murphy scenes that sometimes seeing scenes between two characters who have barely interacted is cool. So Murphy/Kane, please!  |

I love that the show is slowly exploring those relationships which hasn't been touched on much in the past.
