Sigh. I've been rewatching seasons 2 and 3 (good hiatus activity!) and I just had to dig up this old thread to say hail to the Commander. Lexa was such an awesome character. I just finished S3x06, and I love how she progressed through the course of her arc to in this episode making her ringing pronouncement that "blood must not have blood," envisioning a day when her people's children would not grow up under the shadow of death and vengeance.
I'm dreading her death in the next episode. Actually I'll probably cut short my rewatch before Lexa's death, leaving her where she should be, happily in bed with Clarke. I don't need to see the rest of season 3 again (I hated the whole ALIE storyline anyway). Instead I'll imagine an alternate future with Clarke and Lexa leading their people together, having learned so much from each other. With more enlightened leadership perhaps ALIE could have been stopped sooner, maybe even a better response to praimfaya found. Heda, the world of the 100 was better with you. |

I was actually just talking about how proud I was of her when she declared that "blood must not have blood" in another thread. I agree with you there.
I do wonder what the difference would have been for season four if she had not died. I don't know if they would have stopped ALIE earlier, but perhaps Pike would have died a lot sooner. We'll sadly never know. Lisa, I wouldn't feel too badly. Even for me watching FTWD sometimes feels like a chore, despite Alycia's presence. I just don't feel strongly attached to anyone besides her character, whereas with regular TWD I felt attached to many of the core group of characters. __________________

Actually I think that's why the show runners felt Lexa had to die--once she and Clarke worked out their differences and learned from each other they were simply too awesome together. So much of the drama on this show comes from people making stupid/rash decisions that lead to fighting (cough**Pike** cough). With Clarke and Lexa in charge that would have stopped. Sure they would have had to contend with a malignant artificial intelligence and a global radioactive wave of death and destruction, but that's not enough drama for this show! |

BrooklynFan, you make a good point. I feel like a lot of the urgency of season four would have changed if Lexa had still been alive, helping hold the coalition together, and not necessarily having the drama with the Ice Nation. Although, I still maintain that a Lexa vs. Ice Nation plot would have been fine as a subplot for season four anyway.
Lisa, I've even gotten behind now on FTWD because Alycia isn't enough to hold my interest. __________________

Happy birthday to Alycia! And one million followers, that's amazing.
I saw that she's in SDCC now too, so I hope that she's having a lovely birthday celebration there. __________________
