Yes, definitely. She always had that strength in her but the events that transpired on the Ark (her dad being floated) and every single horrible and heartbreaking thing she's witnessed or endured since coming down to Earth ... it's whittled at her slowly but surely. So, understandably, she's been altered forever by those experiences but she's still strong ... albeit in a different way now.

Clarke looks so young in the pilot pictures! It's kind of sad to watch some of the earlier episodes now knowing how much their experiences on the ground will force them to change in later seasons

Totally agree that Clarke had always been strong And I think from the very beginning she's always been willing to do what it takes to survive, but her choices and experiences have definitely weighed heavily on her and caused her to question some of her original ideals.

For sure ... it's still a process for her but that is realistic I think, it's been who she is from the start so it's not easy to alter how she reacts to situations and questions if how she's going about things is truly the best way.

Oh and April, I forgot to mention that I didn't know that book!Clarke had no personality. That's a shame.

To be honest, I didn't care for Clarke much in the early episodes, either. She was always good and always right, so I was like, "MARY SUE ALERT! MARY SUE ALERT!" It wasn't until she mercy killed Atom that I saw a different side of her. I feel like I was kind of seeing her in a new light, just like Bellamy was in that scene.

Well, it's a matter of opinion, I guess, but I don't really think she does. (Then again, I am comparing her to the Clarke of the show, who obviously has a very complex personality.) I'm almost finished with Book 2, and really, the only character who I think has a distinct personality is Bellamy.

I definitely got a Mary Sue vibe from her at the beginning too but had an inkling that things would change with her ... and 1x03 changed my perception of her for the better and I started becoming a fan then, too. I had a feeling that there was more that met the eye and thankfully, that was the case. Season 2 Clarke will always be my favourite Clarke though, she was so on-the-ball during the Mount Weather scenes.
