I think that it's both too. Sad with a hint of hope.

Watched 3x08 tonight, the Clarke-less episode. And every time I get to it, I feel like it's a much needed Clarke break. I have a solid interpretation of her 3A storyline, but . . . it's just never been my favorite of hers. I'm looking forward to the second half of the season and for her to be reunited with the other delinquents.

I'm of the mind that 3A wasn't a good look for any character. I feel like the writers took major steps backwards with character growth. I get the direction the show was going in but it's probably my least favorite time during the entire series. It's no surprise that I felt that way about Clarke too.

Did you guys find her actions/behaviour more frustrating to watch in 3A or season 4 in general, just curious? I found her actions more questionable in season 4 though I felt like she was more OOC and generally more of a background character in 3A.

That's a good question, Sarah. Generally, I found some of those Season 4 decisions more questionable, particularly the bunker. But I also found those decisions to be more interesting, because . . . well, season four in general is just more interesting. So I find her more frustrating to watch in 3A because . . . oh, how do I put this? I don't think she's out of character. I think she's in full on Wanheda mode in 3A and is therefore very out of touch with her people. It's an aspect of her character I don't enjoy as much just because she's so isolated from many of the others, and yes, I do feel in certain episodes that she's an accessory to . . . the storylines of other characters. So yeah, 3A is definitely definitely more frustrating for me to watch when it comes to Clarke.
I mean, 3A is frustrating to watch with Bellamy, too, even with Raven. Octavia, Murphy, and Kane pull me through some of that. But I do see what they're doing in 3A. They're having her fully embrace the Wanheda aspect of her new identity before she can start to reconcile that with who she already was. |
