I think that it was evident that there was more to Bellamy that met the eye, when we were first introduced to him. But I still found him to be a jerk ... also, I knew (from other fans who were the ones who got me interested in the show) that a lot of people felt that way about him initially ... so I hung in there and realised that they were right.

I think part of the reason why I was always intrigued by Bellamy, too, is that I was never intrigued by Finn. If I’m being honest.

Though I wasn’t a Bellamy fan straight on, I never really warmed to Finn either. Finn just gave the vibe of that guy trying way to hard to show he’s good.
I tend to go for the bad boy types with the heart of gold. I’m quite predictable in that aspect of my tv watching. The more I watched Bellamy, the more fascinated I became. Before long that fascination turned into outright love of the character. __________________

Yep
And yes, that was early. But I"m Really a BIG fan of protective big brothers So as soon as he showed that amount of love towards his sister, I really loved him. And with all stuff he did from then on (which I obviously didn't like), I kinda just knew that he'd turn around later. Now, to be fair, had his character gone down another road, I definitely wouldn't have kept on loving him. . . But yeah, protective big brothers __________________

I really love that the protective brother mode that he demonstrated from the start too, even though I thought that he was overtly so at times.

I’m so glad you posted that gif, Kate, because I saw it the other day and remember thinking he looked, like, really hot there.
Those dorky bowling gifs. (But his arms look great even covered up like that. The guy just has great arms.) Oh, agreed, Paula, had he gone a different direction, I would have become less of a fan, too, regardless of being intrigued by him right from the start. Sarah, I grew to like Finn more in season two as well. Ironic indeed. But you know, I think ultimately the reason why I was always more drawn to Bellamy is just . . . the complexity. He was not pushed into the Designated Love Interest role, so we got to see his love for his sister first and foremost that season, and we got to see it evolve into this love for all the deliquents. We got to see all these different layers to him, because he wasn’t just an accessory to Clarke, which I often feel like Finn was. |

I actually found Bellamy really annoying when he was hugging Octavia, I was like "oh lord this is going to be an annoying relationship between this douche and his brat sister"

He did look hot there April
April. We got to know who Bellamy is at his core and see his general way of dealing with various other people while Finn was just there to be a LI. I like characters who are more than just one thing and have more to them. Nuances and shades of grey for the win. |

Yep, and perhaps this is why I actually liked Finn a bit better in season two, despite his dark descent. They added more nuance to him then. But Bellamy had all sorts of complex, complicated layers right from the start, which made him intriguing right from the start.
