I always have to tell people that Bellamy’s a jerk at first but it’s all about sticking with him, finding out why he is the way he is, and watching him transform into the person he’s meant to become.

True, and it's not the stereotypical "bad boy with a heart-of-gold ~deep down" scenario either. I feel like some try to box him up in that category but there's just more to Bellamy than that. He's just an inherently complex character, one who's not perfect but always striving to do better nonetheless.

She was really happy when I told her that Bellamy isn't the bad boy while Finn's the good guy. She likes nuances and shades of grey just like us.I told he 1X06 and 1X08 will be insightful for her with Bellamy. I think she's watched 1X05 now because this morning she said no longer likes Finn.

Yeah, it’s definitely not stereotypical like this. And Bellamy doesn’t just change, either. The goodness is always in him, it just reveals itself a little more and more over time. It’s like Clarke said, everything he does is to protect his sister. So even when he’s “bad” at the beginning, it’s coming from good intent. Which is a lot different than what we often see on TV.

I didnt even see Bellamy as that much of a jerk in the beginning. After the pilot I thought he was kinda douchey but he honestly wasnt even in the episode that much? 102 I loved him. It was obvious he was mostly bark and no bite and wasn't really going to hurt anyone. And it was obvious that deep down he really did have a good heart. And it shifted pretty quickly. IMO he was mostly misunderstood more than anything.
