Spoiler:
It was interesting that they had these infos on their screen when they looked at Echo, Gabriel and Hope. “Capture don’t kill, rendition to Bardo” order for Gabriel and Echo and a kill order for Hope I'm really curious about how this story will continue __________________

I rewatched it today and was able to focus on it a little more and I think I like it better in retrospect. It's really heavy on dialogue, particularly in Sanctum with the main group. They took a lot of time for character moments and I'm happy to see that because I've been worried about whether or not they'd be able to fit those in with all of the new storylines they're opening at the last minute here.
Like for example, I was surprised that they took the time to get into so much stuff with Indra and Gaia. They even picked this scene to post on tumblr: From Script to Screen - 701 “From the Ashes” Scene 2 You know, I thought they were weirdly dwelling on Gaia's emotions and smiles in that scene and I guess she's going to have a bigger storlyline this year. But then reading those stage directions, I have to wonder if Clarke's endgame is to co-parent Madi with Gaia. Especially "Just when it's clear their mutual concern and love for Madi is deepening into something more personal..." what's that all about? |

Re: Clarke and Gaia, the script doesn't quite represent what I saw on screen...not sure what they're getting at there, but I saw what looked like a burgeoning warmth/possibly friendship. I won't say anything from my bitter Bellarke side
Also I posted a link to some twitter account that's apparently outlining episode 2 on the news thread, spoiler alert....sounds kind of cool tbh. I rewatched the episode and actually liked it a bit less the second time around, I still think this show has some weird pacing issues sometimes but I think they did the best they could with the material this week. I'll ignore the annoying background music this year because...yes. Also love how Indra just walks around basically cracking one-liners. __________________

Also of the opinion the episode was underwhelming. I care about what's going on in Sanctum, and I also don't. As in the story is compelling. But none of the actors were actually pulling me in. Except perhaps Murphy. And Jordan.
I find Murphy's guilt interesting. I honestly don't recall his exact involvement in what lead to Abby's death. I just recall last season him generally playing both sides. Perhaps he should feel guilty. Perhaps not. It's just not something I really expected from him. And almost seemed to me for a moment he has a death wish. Like when Clarke refers to the Children of Gabriel killing them. The look on his face was like he would welcome that. The farm house just seems weird. Totally out of place. Which is perhaps the point. Clarke irritated me in regard to Madi. When Madi says she knows what it's like to lose one's mother and Clarke is all, "But I'm fine." Like you do remember you aren't her actual mother, right? You are aware there was a woman who cared for her before the scamp caught you in a bear trap, right? It was just so insensitive of Clarke. Wanted to give Madi a hug after how Clarke handled that. Most compelling part of the episode for me was Echo, Gabriel, and Hope. Partly because I like Gabriel and Echo. But mostly cause it will lead to Bellamy and Octavia, and those two are about all I care about right now. Plus, I'm super curious about the anomaly. Way more than I was last season. __________________
