Okay, hands up. How many of you thought that was going to turn out to be the big cannibalism reveal?
But instead it's... weirder than that? Clarke said they're breeding them? I'm trying to figure out what this means. Did the worms come from inside the bunker? Is this some sort of effort to turn the bodies into fertilizer for the hydrofarm or are they just infected or is this a biological weapons program or.... |

I'm very disappointed, I honestly thought it was cannibalism

I am completely unsurprised that it's not cannibalism. The whole fandom was like "Kara definitely wanted to bring the bodies back because they're cannibals, 100% confirmed." and it turns out she wanted to bring them back to get the worms. (Cannibalism during the Dark Year is still possible, though.)
Also I'm just gonna throw in my other big "I told you so" now. There was no secret part two to Raven's plan to let Murphy go. Shaw really did that. Surprise! He's got his own reasons for why he does things and he's still more or less on Diyoza's side. |

Poor Monty
Echo ratted Shaw out to Charmaine. __________________

Echo. Great. Ratting out a character I actually like.
My TV has been cutting out tonight, but I don’t know why Raven would keep referring to Shaw as an ally if he’d double crossed her. Maybe I missed a line of dialogue while it was being explained due to my bad reception? |

Just wishful thinking on Raven's part because there really obviously has never been a follow up to Shaw's double cross. He even got mad at her about how much trouble he got in for letting Murphy go. So that whole thing was just what it appeared to be on the surface.

He was never on their side so how is Echo in the wrong?

Echo's just a badass who gets **** done. I don't know why Raven has been so soft-hearted this season. Was she always like this?

I’ll have to rewatch that scene. It still feels ambiguous to me and a lot of people on Twitter feel confused, too.
Okay, it was all part of the plan. So good on Echo for that one, I suppose. I was going to be upset if she ratted out Shaw for one simple reason: I like Shaw more than her. |

Slightly surprised Raven went along with it though

Basically Raven hopes that she can convince Shaw to help her because she thinks she can see that there's still good in him. But Shaw doesn't have the same belief in himself, and he admires Diyoza, so he's not willing to stick his neck out too far to help her.
Is anyone weirded out by Clarke's contribution to this season so far? She's just a big wet fart mom character now. What was that heavy-handed dumbness earlier when she told Bellamy to be diplomatic and then yelled at Indra's friends? And then she broke Monty. And her plan to keep Madi safe this whole season has been just a series of terrible lies. Honestly, Gaia has been way more helpful to Madi than Clarke has been. And what now? Clarke's gonna try and kill Octavia? Okay. |

I liked the episode overall. Here’s where I’d put it in my season ranking:
5x03 5x04 5x05 (gap) 5x01 5x07 (GIGANTIC gap) 5x06 5x02 I really liked Clarke, Bellamy, Madi, Kane, and Indra in it the most. That ending . . . Wow. |
