This is the situation I find myself in. Hotel, I can get a full refund on that if I know 3 days in advance, apparently. But the flight . . . man, that one just sucks.

If the place is a nice location, I’d definitely be more open to risk going and make a vacation out of it, even if there’s a last minute cancellation. For me, it was Melbourne (which I loved, first time around) and since I can’t make that one now, I’m hesitating on the other location (Gold Coast) since I’ve been there before and didn’t really enjoy the place.

Yeah, I guess the con went smoothly and they had a good experience, so they are doing it again but it's still kind of weird. I thought that company was done organizing any cons after last year.

A lot of the cast pulled out last year because there were some issues with the company organizing the con. I think they weren't able to pay them or maybe some other contractual issues? A lot of the cast share the same management, so their agents/teams decided to cancel their appearance.

This kind of thing makes me so nervous. See, with Wizard World, at least I know they’re reliable.

Yup, it’s definitely nervewrecking and it seems like there’s already so many things that could go wrong, and an unreliable convention organiser just adds to that level of anxiety/uncertainty. Wizard World and Unity Days seems to be the most reliable ones so far, from what I’ve heard.

I think a lot of the times the organizers are genuine but are not able to garner enough interest to cover all expenses. But the people behind Polaris Con just seemed unprofessional and I remember that they weren't upfront about the whole situation and people were angry and frustrated.

I hope that all the cons you plan to go to are going to turn out great!

Hopefully, the rest of the conventions go off without a hitch because the ones that will suffer the most in those cases will be the fans.
