Welcome to the first 30 Days Challenge thread!

Usually those kind of challenges only take up a month but we wanted something that would keep us busy during the hiatus.

The idea: Each week (starting from Monday, June 12th) we will be discussing two topics (covering two days) - in any form you want: posting your thoughts, replying to other posters or sharing your favourite fan art.

Oh, this should be fun. I've never done one of these before.

I've got clear answers coming to mind for all of them. Well, most of them.

So we start with the Day 1 topic and discuss it for 2 days? Am I understanding that correctly?

I was thinking that we could discuss two topics for a week, so answering two questions at once. But we can also do Monday-Thursday one topic and then Friday-Sunday another one.

Whichever way works better for you.

I'll just answer the first one for now, because my answers might be kind of drawn out sometimes.

They won't all be this pretty, by the way. I'm just bored right now.

Favorite Ark-Born Female Character:





Yes, despite all her flaws, it's still Clarke Griffin.

Perhaps it's even because of her flaws that she remains my favorite.
Raven is often easier to like, but Clarke is still someone I root for.

Clarke is one of the few female characters to ever even be comparable to Buffy Summers.
It's not an easy feat to be that brave and that strong and that much of a leader.

Unlike Buffy, she's actually more of an anti-hero than a hero.
Her decisions are so morally debatable, which is thought-provoking.
Her intentions certainly don't always justify the outcomes.

Like Buffy, she's ultimately still just a young girl who did not ask for the burdens she bears,
but who bears them regardless of this fact because she knows that someone has to.
Even when she makes me feel conflicted, I find that to be an admirable trait about her.

April, I love everything you said about Clarke. I totally agree that her flaws are a huge part of what make her a great character. And the gifs you found are so pretty!

I was bored and just happened to be looking at Clarke gifs, Lisa. They won't all be that pretty. But thank you.

Yeah, Clarke without the flaws . . . no thanks. Her flaws are what make her human.

Honestly, though . . . I compared her to Buffy a lot because I think Buffy is one of the most important and iconic television characters of all time. Scratch that, one of the most iconic and important fictional characters in general, beyond just the scope of television. Without Buffy to pave the way, it's unlikely we end up with a character like Clarke Griffin. But one area where I feel this show actually surpasses Buffy is the moral ambiguity of its heroine's decisions. Buffy kind of walked the fine line between morally right and morally wrong--they had her flirt with the idea of embracing her dark side, but ultimately, they utilized other characters (primarily Faith) to tell that storyline. This show utilizes Clarke (and Bellamy). This show utilizes its leads to tell the darkest, most unsettling stories. That's ballsy.

Paula ... we all know how much you love Charlotte. Since you're sporting an icon of her as we speak.

I want to make my posts as pretty as April's (and some of the other posts that you guys make for the rankings thread) but then I just get lazy.

Paulina, I love the idea of four days for one topic ... so it won't be overwhelming with the other things that we have going on the board. (Maybe it's me that is struggling though )
