Ya Lux knows, you can tell in the next episode when Ryan said he didn't know how Cate ever slept with Baze when he was referring to back in high school, the look of shock on Lux's face proved that she knew.

I understand what you are saying Amber, Cate is trying way too hard but I do know why she wants to do it. She wants so bad for Lux to stop pushing her away and for them to have a good relationship she wants to make up for the past 16 years she is just going about it the wrong way

I guess my thing is, why is Cate trying so hard? Lux did not ask to be bailed out or transferred and Cate should have let her live with the consequences. Cate admits she's not perfect so why is she acting like she knew going to the principal was the right thing to do? Actually, I think things would be better for Cate if she did quit trying so hard. Every time she tries hard and messes up so she tries harder and it's just not working.

I feel like Cate doesn't know Lux well enough to take such a control. Lux and Cate need to slow down, take a breath and get to know each other.

Kylie: No, she said "Do you people ever learn?" I think she's smart enough to know they did more then talk.
Cate is a perfectionist. From the small tidbits about her high school past, she was a 4.0 student that teachers loved. (Though it seems the principal likes Baze more, ) She worked hard to get where she is today, and I guess she wants the same for Lux. She knows Lux had it hard, that Lux is a bright student that could do so much more. She sees that her daughter has potential and wants to treat her or make her be the same way as she was. She wants to fix everything for Lux so Lux could have a good life. Maybe she's afraid that Lux is too much like Baze? Maybe she's trying to keep Lux from going down the same path as him.

Exactly! I totally agree. Cate just wants what is best for Lux, she may be going about it the wrong way but that doesn't mean her intentions aren't good because they are. She wants Lux to have a future and ya she probably doesn't want her to end up to much like Baze because she views him as lazy and irresposnible

I'm not sure if the teachers loved Cate. I'm begining to think maybe Cate has always pushed people away. I don't think Cate had many friends in HS.

Yes, but by trying to grow close to her and "rescue" her from mistakes, present or future, she is doing the very opposite and pushing her away. Trying to make someone like you, or treating them like they are you never works.

I personally just think Cate needs a serious chill pill and I think with Cate and Ryan out they can enjoy their relationship now, which will relief stress. And from what I hear of the promo next week she let's loose a little, so I am glad.

I think you're right, Josef. I don't think this is the first time her good intentions got her nowhere in a hurry.

Lux got the bong-lamp back!

I think Cate did a fine job being a mother in this episode and she really had nothing to apologize for. Lux was being a brat and she deserved to be punished in some way for the ridiculous stunt she pulled. I think Cate was extremely understanding towards Lux considering everything that happened.

And, Baze, oh Baze, how I love thee. He did a good job, too. Telling Lux she had to go back to Cate in the morning... he's come a long way already.

Okay, my evalution for tonight's episode:

Boy was it INTENSE!

First thought: I was not happy with Lux tonight. She's a smart girl, but teenager or no teenager, I don't think that should be a free pass for excusing misconduct. Of course parents are not perfect - there's no such thing in any universe; however, with that being said - that position of authority still has to be respected even when the decisions aren't liked by 'said teenager.' Lux may have not wanted to go to the new school, she may not have wanted Cate to intercept the suspension but that's a parent's duty: to make the decision they feel is best for the child they are responsible for. They make the final call otherwise they wouldn't be the parent - they'd be the best friend that just listens and then lets you make the call.

And not cool about outing out Ryan/Cate. While on principal Lux did have a point about lying, her conduct was out of line - that was not her place to do that! Especially since Cate was not directly responsible for the treatment she received at school and even if she was - still not her place to handle something in that manner. If Lux wanted to be mad, that's one thing, fine - be mad - but you don't disrespect your parent like that. They may not have that mother/daughter bonding down yet but Cate is still in the position of authority whether she likes it or not. Lux made the decision to lie, and while I can sympathize with her reasons for wanting to, that is what gave the mean girl at school the ammunition from the 'secrets in the file' to use. Not Cate.

Cate and Lux's communication is rocky right now. They definitely have to work on establishing the boundaries of this relationship which I think Cate finally stepped forward and attempted to do tonight.

But even with all that said - STILL Lux! I think she was seeing the error in her decision-making by the end of the episode.

Baze - loved that he made a responsible decision when he had that one-on-one with Lux and he told her that she couldn't hide out at his place and she needed to work this out with Cate. There needs to be some good co-parenting between these two and even if they're not going to be together as a couple, they need to be supportive of each other in that department.

LOL - because honestly, he was a bit of an ass in the beginning. Granted, his and Cate's bickering can be amusing but taking shots at one another and then literally 'acting on them' isn't really called for. Sorry, especially, since I'm pretty convinced he wouldn't have made that 'good deed call' under any other normal circumstances.

Ryan - gosh, I just love him. I love how he stands by Cate and how he's willing to help her through this by supporting her. His reprimand to Baze at the bar was right on, I think. And aw ... it was all kinds of sweet when he told Cate he'd be there for the dinner even if Lux wasn't. How can you not love a guy like that!

It was a good episode. I'm looking forward to next week's episode.

It's strange how Lux easily blamed Cate for what happened, instead of finding out who actually stuck the xerox copies on her locker. Cate was right when she said that she wasn't the one who did that to her, that she didn't mean to "out" Lux to her school. But it was clearly Brinn(?)'s blonde friend's fault.

^ Yeah, I need to brush up, I forgot the new girls names.

But I agree - she immediately jumped on Cate which tells me there are definitely more underlying issues there. It sucks but the mother always seems to take a harder beat down than the dad when a child of this age reappears when they've been out of the parents lives.

But I was happy Cate took that stand - I was going to be mad if she didn't because Lux was out of line. But it did look like Lux was taking her words seriously, which is a good thing.

I kinda agree with this. Cate should have never gone there to make it undone. Lux needs to make her mistakes to learn from them. I mean I get that Cate wants to make up for everything she missed but she can't just decides what is best for Lux (like last episode) and do it without talking to her. So what, she was suspended, it is still not the end of the world.

Not saying I am totally okay with what Lux did, outing them, but she was mad, and she just did it without really thinking about it, although I am sure she regreted it soon.

Lux reminds me sometimes of myself cause when I am mad I say things to I shouldn't have in thje first place.

the scene in the parking lot with Cate and Lux broke my heart, for both of them

Funniest moment was definitely Cate saying 'The principal loves me' and the next scene is with the principal and Cate and how the woman says 'I always loved Nate Bazile'

I loved this episode. Especially for me, that my teenage years aren't so far behind me, I can relate to a lot of stuff.

Most of all, though, I can relate to Cate. I don't think it was harsh what she said to Lux, to be honest. She's been trying like a maniac to be a good mother, so she can get her back. All those years, she's been comforting herself with the thought that some couple had adopted Lux and given her a home. And now she realizes that Lux has had a crappy life so far and she blames herself for it. And let's be honest, so does Lux. So, she's been working so hard to make Lux's life better, and Lux always pushes her away. She goes to Baze, because it's easier to hang out with him. Baze has always kind of breezed through life, even now he does. I don't think Cate believes that Baze really makes an effort, and yet, Lux likes him more. She goes back to the school and all she hears is the principal yapping on about how awesome Baze was. So I guess, "I don't think I can do this anymore." hit the nail on the head. Lux lashed out at her for something that Cate had no control over, and it was a really mean and horrible thing to do. Regardless of whether it needed to be out in the open or not. Don't get me wrong, I get that it needed to be out in the open, but I feel like Cate and Ryan are "actors". They play a part for their listeners.
I think that Lux really needed to hear and see that Cate's powers aren't endless. Cate is just a human, and she makes mistakes. And if Lux keeps pushing her away and seems to "love" Baze more, then I find her suggestion that Lux can go live with Baze completely valid.

As much as I love Cate, though, I love the Baze, too. I'm glad to see him slowly growing up, even though he does try my patience a little But I guess, he tries his friends' patience, too. I adore his friends

And Ryan, I really do love him. He always seems to know the right things to say.

I agree with everything you say here!

And I must say.... Lux grabbing the microphone is the same as Baze calling the cops on the bar across the street just so he can swoop in and save the day with his own bar. Both don't realize the consequences of their actions.
