It bothered me that he never told Rachel how he still loved her. It took them seven years to get over themselves.

I know. Though it was frustrating, I think they needed those seven years apart to grow and fully release how much they meant to each other. It was the prospect of being separated and not seeing each other every day that finally made them realise how they truly felt.

I guess in a way, it's kind of sweet. She looked like a clown, but Ross still thought she looked beautiful.
