Gunther Biography
Gunther, played by James Michael Tyler is the ever present, incredably creepy, yet lovable coffee guy at Central Perk, and ex-Soap Opera actor. He has served the beloved Friends for 10 years, worked with two of them, and been madly in love with the beautiful Rachel Green all the while (although never had the courage to ask her out).

James Michael Tyler Biography
James Michael Tyler was born in Winona, Mississippi on May 28. The youngest of five children, he was raised by a retired Air Force captain and a homemaker. At age 11, his parents died and he moved to Anderson, South Carolina to live with his sister. Tyler enrolled at Clemson University as a geology major and earned a bachelor of arts degree. He moved to Los Angeles in 1988 and became a production assistant for "Fat Man and Little Boy" and later became an assistant apprentice film editor. He also worked as an extra and practiced music on the keyboard.

When not working, Tyler practices the keyboard in his studio at home and writes music. He enjoys playing tennis, golf, and jogging. He is active in the Lili Claire Foundation and AIDS Project L.A charities. James Michael Tyler and his wife Barbara, a personal trainer, live in Hollywood.

I love Gunther! He was one of the funniest characters on the show. I loved the very end of the show when he finally told Rachel he loved her. It was soo sweet. I'll have to find more Gunther quotes and post, he always had great lines.

Aw, Gunther is absolutely adorable, a weird kind of adorable. I love the fact that even after all these years, he's still pining on Rachel. I heard that his role was intended to be a non-liners role, glad that was changed.

Do you guys remember in S4, "TOW Chandler in a Box" when Joey asks for Chandler to Gunther, he thought Joey was Chandler?

It was one his most memorable moments.

Oh and if he hadn't told Rachel all about the Xerox girl, R/R wouldn't have broken up. But I guess the relationship was going downhill anyway.
