General Discussion on TOW The Birth Mother (10x9)

A nervous Monica and Chandler head to Ohio to meet a prospective birth mother (guest star Anna Faris) but the pregnant woman labors under the false impression that Chandler is a doctor and Monica is a reverend -- and the couple are so eager to adopt that they don't want to tell her the truth. Elsewhere, another mixup allows Ross to get in touch with his feminine side when he agrees to let Rachel pick out some new duds before going on a promising date while Joey is not afraid to use his fork to fend off a skinny new admirer (guest star Anna Parisse) who likes to pick off food from his plate.

This is kinda cheesy... but it touched me when Chandler gave his speach to the birth mom about how much Monica loves this baby and how much they would love it and bla bla bla

So yeah i liked this eppie... its about time they got a baby*

Monica and Chandler's storyline was heartbreaking and beautiful which made the other two storylines seem so completely ridiculous for people in their mid-30s. Seems hard to believe that they are all still friends. They are in such different places in their lives.

I love Chandler's devotion to Monica. His speech at the end is why Matthew Perry is my favorite part of the show and always has been. I always wanted to get pregnant so I could see them together preparing for their baby. But this is so wonderful too...when they found out they probably wouldn't conceive, when they played with Emma on her birthday, they way the were tonight...I just love this too. They have such an honest, open and loving relationship, while still staying true to themselves.

I think the fact that Monica & Chandler's was the driving storyline tonight is why they chose to make the rest light comedic fluff. Especially given that the baby-adoption arc is a dramatic one. I don't think this epi means that Joey, Phoebe, Rachel & Ross, are ridiculous and/or immature - they're just goofy, like always. It wasn't that many episodes ago that Monica & Chandler were acting just the same when they were eavesdropping on their friends' makeout sessions through the hotel room walls in Barbados. But, that's just my 2 cents .

Anyway, I think Chandler was definitely the highlight of tonight. His comment to the birth mother, that he'll learn how to be a father but that Monica is already a mother - very touching .

I liked the Monica/Chandler storyline and I loved his speech to Erika about how much Monica wants a baby.

The Ross storyline was dumb and I'm sorry but why would Rachel buy a shirt that Ross could fit into? I mean it wasn't even tight on him and yet he's much bigger than Rachel/Jennifer Aniston. That part just did not make much sense to me. I know Ross can be dumb, but that was Joey dumb to me.

The Joey story was kinda dull too, I wish Phoebe could have been given more to do, I would have liked that better.

So happy for Monica & Chandler.

The whole Joey thing was stupid...wasn't funny.

I actually giggled at the whole Ross thing. Oh my god.

For that last scene after commercial break where Ross was talking to Joey at Central Perk, I wasn't sure if I missed anything. I came in when Ross said to Joey he realized he was wearing a woman's shirt. Did they say anything else funny before that?

Monica was a little too weird about that Reverend thing... weird even for Monica. Chandler was so sweet. That little speech he gave to Erika was so great. It almost made me cry.

Ross... yea, the only thing I was annoyed with was that he would never ever be able to fit into one of Rachel's shirts.... example: that shirt he took back from Rachel when they broke up, it said Relax or something on it, and he put it on and it was like so tight. hee hee.

Joey's thing was a bit strange........ but amusing.

Yeah normally my favorite stuff is Ross/Rachel storylines but theirs this time was pretty lame. Joey's was kinda cute but kinda stupid. Monica/Chandler one was cute.

Usually the best episodes of friends are with the six of them in the same place. I'm also starting to get the feeling of the episodes being a little rushed to get to the conclusion of this season's storyline. I mean it's also a short season...doesn't help.

Definitely this episode was focused on Monica and Chandler and the adoption. Good scenes and the actress that played Erica did a good job. The writting in those scenes was good as well.

The Joey storyline in the episode was kinda lame. However when Sarah got up to leave and he had to sit there and look at the dessert it was hilarious. "Stop staring at me "...classic Joey.

Phoebe didn't have much to do in this episode but again...when all of them are doing different things how much can you accomplish in a 22 min. episode with each individual character.

Ross/Rachel...I can start getting the feeling that the writers are getting them a little bit closer together now episode by episode. Another thing I noticed was the comment of "when me and Joey went out for a week..." tells us that they are definitely over and now back to friends status. I mean most people knew that...but that kind of repeats it to drive the point home. Rachel picking out clothes for Ross. Definitely re-establishing that they are back to being closer and on better terms then earlier in the season.

Anyways...after the layoff of almost 2 months of no new episodes...this one wasn't that bad. Definitely a 3 out of 5.

I would marry Chandler in a heart beat!! That man is awesome! I loved his speech about how much he loves Monica. It makes me soo happy And to know how badly Monica wants a child, by lying tells you it all. I think it was a great episode and it makes you feel for both parties in adoption cases.

I loved Joey and his not sharing food. That was classic Joey! Ross' scenes were funny, but it wasn;t the highlight of the show. I thought David did a terrific job in directing this episode.

Matthew Perry deserves an Emmy for his speech tonight. It was perfect. I got teary-eyed. I think the thing that makes me the happiest is how much Chandler has grown. He did the right thing and they didn't have him screw it up and not get the baby. I am going to be so sad when this show ends

I loved the emotional parts so much. Chandler's speech was so sweet.

I found the other storyline pretty funny. Not as funny as when they all are together, but still good.

Last episode, Chandler and Monica stole the show. Matt and Courtney are always underestimated I think and I admit I cried when Chandler gave his speech at the end! It was so sweet. Who wouldn't want a guy like Chandler...? I know it is the last season and we can expect to be the year for everyone but IMO, the adoption/baby stoyline will make Matt and Courtney steal the show ... Jen did it when Rachel was pregrant and this season I think there is no way people cannot see how great Matt and Courtney are. They touched me and made me cry last thursday ... Good work!

I think the rest of the episode was funny but at the same time ridiculous. How can Ross fit into Rachel's shirt? I asked the question right when I saw him with it. I love when Ross and Rachel interact! I love Jen's new haircut! Joey's "Joey doesn't share food" storyline was purely Joey. We cannot expect more from him and he made me laugh. Not enough Phoebe!

The Monica/Chandler storyline was awesome. And Chandler's speech was perfect. "She's a mother without a baby".. I love him so much. I definately cried (that doesn't say much though, considering I got teary when the announcer said "The Countdown to the Final Friends"). They're getting a baby!!!

I thought it was hilarious that "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!". It was so in-character. And after he ate the cake when he was like, "I'm not even sorry!".

The shirt thing with Ross was a little stupid. I thought Ross was smart enough to figure out that a pink shirt that's low-cut is usually a women's shirt, but apparently not. The only funny part was at the end when he was still wearing it because "it's so soft".

Overall-- not bad. I think it was nice that it had some drama.. it really shows their range (mainly Courteney and Matthew). Its good to have new Friends again!

Definitely, the best eps are the ones with the whole gang together. When was the last group ep? TOW The Cake (Emma's bday)? hee hee, just thinking about that one makes me laugh.

(racing the wind up toys, C&M's doggie does a flip)

Chandler: I bought you! How come I didn't remember that's all you do!!!
