| Which Character Has Changed the Most? Looking back on the past 10 years... which character has changed the most? Grown up the most? What about the least? Is Chandler still sarcastic and afraid of commitment? Is Monica obsessively clean and competitive? Is Rachel still dependant on others? Is Ross still unlucky with love? Is Joey still a struggling- womanizing actor? Is Phoebe still a free spirit? Think about where they were in Season 1-- and where they are now.. and maybe what changed them. | |||

| Fan Forum's Finest ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I can't say who changed the most b/c they have all made trasformations. IMO: Chandler is not as scarcatic b/c since commiting to Monica he has learned not to use humor and sacrcasim as a defense mechanisim. I think he has grown the most. He was the most commitment phobic and now he's married with a child on the way. Monica is definatly still competitive as we saw in TOW in Barbados when she plays ping pong w/ Mike. I think she has become more of a control freak with the way she handled Phoebe's wedding arrangements. Rachel has grown alot and I think motherhood has helped her do that, yet she was prepared for motherhood because she learned to be independent. Ross has become more nurotic. I think his failed marraiges and relationships have made him that way. He's still unlucky with love because he will always love Rachel. Since Joey has been in love with Rachel I think that he hasn't fully gone back to his womanizing ways. I think they definatly made him dumber over the last few seasons. Before he was just slow and spacy. Phoebe is still quirky but not the free spirit hippy she used to be. She works at a spa where she has a 401K and I can't remember the last time we saw her play her guitar. She got smarter I think. But I guess all that is what is part charcater development and when everyone feels that when the development can't go further the story has been completed. (I hope that made sense) __________________ | |||

| I think that they*ve all changed a great deal from the beginning up until now... Rachel.. when she first came to NY.. she couldn*t do anything, now she has a child, she has/had a big time job... shes not Daddys spoiled little princess as she once was. Chandler.. he used to be sarcastic and funny, now hes just.. whipped! I mean, its nice that he found someone to be with... but I miss the jokes and the 'Chandler-isms' of the first few seasons Monica.. isn*t as neurotic as she onces was.. shes a little more care free... not so worried about what her parents are gonna think Joey.. he fell in love with a woman.. granted, it was his best friends babys momma, but I never thought I*d see the day when Joey found a girl that he would actually be interested in spending forever with.. I like the Joey of now more then in the beginning Ross.. is still weird, and I still don*t like him that much.. and hes still having trouble finding a woman to be with.. I think hes probally changed the least out of the group... And finally.. Phoebe.. shes finally settled down with Mike.. shes not quite as ditzy as she used to be... but shes still Phoebe... I dunno... thats my opinion... __________________ *SarahMarie<3'sMichaelBoston* -Dreamer-Groupie-YOR-DirtyBird-JB Obsessie- | |||

| They've all changed. It would be extremely weird if they hadn't. But I'd say Rachel has probably changed most... coming from her ditzy, spoiled slef to an independant mother.. it's a pretty big change. And Chandler, too... he's grown up a lot. The others... not so much, IMO. | |||

| I'll agree with whoever said Rachel and Chandler are the ones who changed the most, who clearly grew up and left behind them some of their childish fears. For Chandler,I think it all changed with Monica.I mean,he found his perfect match and that truly changed him,but not in a bad way. He's never stopped being funny, nor did he ever seem "whipped",in my opinion. He just stopped being afraid when he realized he'd get to spend the rest of his life with his true love. As for Rachel...she did suddenly grow up with the arrival of Emma and I think knowing Ross would always be there for their child also reassured her, during S9.Though I must admit that from S6 to mid-S10,the writers pushed too far the comedy and the character suffered from that,IMO.Just like Ross,it was like they never were serious about some stuff anymore. It did get on my nerves sometimes... Phoebs went through changes too. With time she became more aware of the world surrounding her and she found Mike, which probably gave her a more steady life. Monica didn't change much, but she did became a little more confident when she and Chandler "found" each other.I mean, there wasn't anymore this childish fear of spending her life alone,of never getting married. She realized her mother's fears were not going to happen. Joey, like Ross&Rach, also did go through "phases" where the character had to become dumber to be funnier.I also think the writers went too far from times to times, but that never stopped me from loving this character as much as the others.I think we haven't really seen Joey grow up yet...maybe we'll get to see that in Matt's spin off? As for Ross,I think he finally stopped acting like a kid when he realized he might not get to spend everyday anymore with the woman he'd been in love with since he was a teenager.'Cause, honestly,it had always been about Rachel, his "spoon" and his "lobster".He tried to move on,as she did,but he never could do it,not completely. That's why I think the series finale showed Original!Ross(less geeky) stopping being afraid of ruining "things" with Rachel. __________________ Sookie: No matter how furious I got with Eric, I was happier when I was with him. | |||

Chandler, with the help of Monica, became a "family man" and lost his fear of commitment. Over the years we saw him lose a lot of his sarcasm as he came to realized that not every relationship is like his parents relationship. Rachel really grew into this independent person who found herself. She had help from each of the friends in realizing who she really is, and embraced that person. At the end of the series, she was realy to move to Paris by her self! Rachel from season one would never have done this! __________________ If sometimes we don't get lost, there's a chance we may never find our way. | |||

| I don't like how Chandler has changed over the years. To me, he is whipped and I don't like him that way. He's not the same person, and not in a good way. Just looking at him in the later episodes makes me sad and really miss how he used to be. I don't like Monica anymore. She's changed for the worse, becoming an exaggerated caricature who's more shrill, more loud, more competitive, and more freaky than she was in the earlier seasons. I liked the Monica that was sweeter, more vulnerable, more normal. The way she was with Richard was the best, and I don't think this whole Chandler/Monica mess is "true love." I hate them together. Also, Ross became crazy Mental Geller in season 5 and has been kind of nutty and over the top since then. I like original Ross who was sweet, intelligent, and mature. __________________ Cress, a Chanoey lover and Arrested Development fan. "Joey and Chandler! Joey and Chandler! | Rachel and Chandler, definately. When she first came to NY, she was a spoiled girl, who was dependent on her father for money. Now she has a career, a daughter, and is much more independant. Chandler used to be terrifed of commienment, but now he has matured so much. He's married and has two children. Hands down, Chandler and Rachel changed the most. | |||

| I think Monica has changed alot. She used to be the most normal, remember? She totally jumped on the neurotic scale. __________________ _Defying Gravity_ | |||

| Rachel has changed the most, definitely.. She was so dependent on others in the beginning. Then she really worked on her independence and she turned into this incredibly independent, strong and feisty woman. ![]() Changed the least? Ross for me. I just loved how he consistently stayed his natural geeky self. I loved his ability to show emotion on all levels. I think his intense love for Rachel did change him in a way, as he developed a sense of confidence that we did not get to see in the beginning. But, overall, I love that Ross stayed true to his geeky tendencies.. Hee. Like bragging about his sex moves to Rachel in the Series Finale, and just eating it up that Rach LOVED his new moves. ![]() __________________ Frenchie | |||
