"Revolution" Cast #1:

Welcome to the 1st appreciation thread for
The Cast of "Revolution"

Hamburgo1001 05-23-2014 12:59 PM

I'm sorry about the lack of a thread title, guys. I tried to come up with something, but nothing came to mind. I blame it on the heat. :goof: If anyone has any thread title ideas, they are greatly appreciated. :)

JD Pardo already has a new show. It's called The Messengers and will premiere on the CW in 2015. Here's a short description:

Quote:

“THE MESSENGERS”

“And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.”

(Revelation 9)

In the white-hot sun of the New Mexico desert, scientist Vera Ivanov watches in fascination as a mysterious object plummets to Earth and explodes in a blinding flash, sending out a shock wave that briefly stops her heart. But Vera is not the only one affected by the blast: she is instantly and mysteriously connected to four other strangers, who also collapse only to miraculously come back to life hours later. Erin, a young mother desperate to protect her 7-year-old daughter from an abusive ex-husband; Peter, a troubled high school student who finally lashes out to end the constant bullying he can no longer endure; Raul, a federal agent looking to escape his undercover assignment in a violent Mexican drug cartel; and Joshua, Jr., a charismatic second-generation televangelist following in his father’s footsteps – all awaken after the pulse with powers they can barely believe, from inexplicable strength to the ability to heal others. Most mysterious of all is the figure known only as The Man, who offers Vera the one thing she wants most in life – to be reunited with her kidnapped son – if she will help him with one morally complicated task. That task puts Vera on a collision course with nurse Rose Arvale who, after a seemingly random act of violence left her in a coma for seven years, suddenly begins to stir. As Joshua, Jr. prophesizes, the wheels of Revelation have begun to turn, and this group of strangers might be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture…or causing it. The series stars Shantel VanSanten (“Gang Related,” “One Tree Hill”) as Vera, Jon Fletcher (“City of Dreams”) as Joshua Jr., Sofia Black-D’Elia (“Betrayal,” “Gossip Girl”) as Erin, JD Pardo (“Revolution”) as Raul, Joel Courtney (“Super 8”) as Peter, Anna Diop (“Everybody Hates Chris”) as Rose and Diogo Morgado (“Son of God,” “Sol de Inverno”) as The Man. THE MESSENGERS is produced by CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Entertainment, in association with Thunder Road Pictures with executive producers Trey Callaway (“Revolution,” “CSI: NY”), Basil Iwanyk (“The Town,” “The Expendables” film franchise, “Clash of the Titans” film franchise) and co-executive producers Eoghan O’Donnell (“Teen Wolf”), Kent Kubena (the upcoming “Gods of Egypt,” “Turistas”) and Ava Jamshidi. The pilot was directed by Stephen Williams (“Lost”).

Thanks for opening the thread, Alex.
It's too late at night for me to be of any help with titles, but I'll see if I can think of something tomorrow.

JD got off the boat before it sunk. Revolution truly proved to have nothing to give to his character, I hope the actor has much more luck with his role on the new series.

  I wish JD the best of luck, too. Until his death episode, I really thought he wasn't much of an actor. Then I realized that his hands were tied by the poor material the show was giving him. :(

I'm curious what's next for some of the other actors. I'm sure quite a few people are hoping to see Giancarlo on OUAT again, but I hope he won't go back for more than a guest spot because his role on that show was such a waste...

And for anyone who wants to stay up to date on David Lyons, there's a great new David Lyons fansite that opened a couple of days ago. That place might be worth checking out in the future. :)

Hamburgo1001 05-27-2014 04:53 AM

Giancarlo received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame about a month ago:

I also found footage of the ceremony on YouTube:

Congrats to Giancarlo. This is a wonderful honor. :)

Hawthorn 05-27-2014 11:09 AM

Giancarlo was looking great at the ceremony, and really happy! :D Congrats to him, and how sweet that Tracy was there, too.
And if his fans truly care for him... they won't wish him back on OUAT, lol. That's a show I'd go back to only if I could find nothing else. And besides the buzz it still has online, it doesn't have really much going for it.

Here are a couple of short interviews/sound bites featuring Daniella Alonso, whose new show - The Night Shift - premieres on NBC tonight at 10pm:

Hamburgo1001 05-29-2014 06:33 PM

^ Thanks for those video interviews with Daniella. I didn't watch the pilot, but from what I've heard, it seems as if audience reaction was mixed at best. That might explain why NBC elected to push the show all the way back into summer season.

Billy Burke is currently shooting a new movie:

Quote:

Gary Cole, Billy Burke Starring in ‘Divine Access’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Gary Cole (“Veep”) and Billy Burke (“Twilight”) are starring in ensemble comedy “Divine Access,” which has started shooting in Austin, Texas.

The Traveling Picture Show Co. is producing with Kevin Matusow, Carissa Buffel and Steven Chester Prince. G-Men Media’s Clay Glendenning and Jeff Way are executive producing with Burke’s Blackball Entertainment.

Prince is directing from a script he co-wrote with John A. O’Connell and Michael Zagst.

Patrick Warburton, Joel David Moore (“Avatar”), Sarah Shahi, Dora Madison, Barak Hardley and Adrienne Barbeau also star.

Burke portrays a reluctant prophet who finds that he knows more about the world’s vast religions than most scholars. He humiliates a reverend (played by Cole) on an episode that quickly goes viral, making him a spiritual celebrity and sending the reverend spiraling downward.

Thanks for this thread. :)

Thanks for the news about Billy. :)

I didn't see the promos for The Night Shift because I knew already that it wasn't my cup of tea, but there is little to none buzz around about it, so not surprised about its schedule.

Tracy will attend the upcoming Greek Film Festival, next June 8:

We should get some pics and interviews.

Mat has been cast as a series regular in Carlton Cuse's new show The Returned:

Quote:

Kevin Alejandro To Co-Star In A&E Series ‘The Returned’; Two Others Cast

Kevin Alejandro is set as a regular opposite Mark Pellegrino in Carlton Cuse’s 10-episode A&E drama series The Returned. Also co-starring in the project, an adaptation of the acclaimed French series, are Once Upon a Time in Wonderland star Sophie Lowe and Mat Vairo (Revolution). Keith Gordon (Dexter) will direct. The Returned, from A+E Studios and FremantleMedia, focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear, bringing with them both positive and detrimental consequences. Alejandro will play the town’s authoritative but accessible Sheriff Tommy Moran. Lowe plays Lena, one of Jack’s (Pellegrino) two daughters. Vairo plays one of the returned, Simon, a musician who comes back 10 years after his death. Alejandro, repped by Gersh and Main Title, was a regular on True Blood, Southland and Golden Boy. Vairo is with Gersh, Gartner/Green and Mitch Smelkinson.

I see they are closely copying the characters and situations from the original. And when I look at the headshot of Mat's on the Deadline website, I can't help noticing that he bears a striking resemblance to the actor who plays Simon in the French version - especially when he wears slightly longer and curly hair. That may have played a role in the casting...

I am curious about this short film with David and Stephen in the 2 leading roles that is going to screen at Las Vegas Film Festival. Here's a short synopsis:

Quote:

Penance

A man makes the decision to cleanse his inner demons, revealing a buried past that begs the question... can we ever truly find forgiveness? And just how far will one go to get it...

It would be nice if they release it on the internet one day... :)

And more casting news:

‘Revolution’ Actress Daniella Alonso Joins Kevin James in ‘Paul Blart 2' (Exclusive)

She'll play the mall cop's love interest in the Sony sequel, which is being directed by Andy Fickman

“Revolution” alum Daniella Alonso has been cast as Kevin James’ love interest in “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2,” an individual familiar with Sony's sequel told TheWrap.

Andy Fickman is directing the film, which is being produced by Adam Sandler's company Happy Madison.

The sequel finds Blart attending a Security Guard Expo in Las Vegas, where he takes on a group of dangerous art thieves.

Alonso will play Divina Martinez, the general manager of the Wynn Hotel, who is completely perplexed when Blart presumes that she's hitting on him. Flustered yet determined to clarify the situation, she reaches out to Blart several times, only to reinforce his original theory.

Alonso, who next stars on NBC's upcoming summer series “The Night Shift,” recently played fan favorite Nora Clayton on the network's hit series “Revolution.” She's represented by the Gersh Agency and Luber Roklin Entertainment.

David attended the Australians in Film's Scholarship Dinner on June 12 in Beverly Hills, California:

:)

Hawthorn 06-27-2014 07:11 AM

Looking good, David. :sigh:
And some glorious hair porn in that Tracy photoshoot, although I don't like all the pics.

Thanks for all that and the casting news. None of those projects really sound original/that appealing to me, but I'll check out the short film if it pops up somewhere. :)

Thanks for those pictures of Tracy. She looks as lovely as ever.

Some surprise good news. NBC has picked up The Night Shift for a second season:

Quote:

NBC Renews 'Night Shift' for Season 2

The hourlong medical series has earned another run following a solid performance in the post-"America's Got Talent" spot.

NBC is extending The Night Shift.

Sony Pictures Television fought for and received a second season for the one-hour medical drama from creators Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The Night Shift renewal comes after the series generated strong showings following NBC's biggest summer draw, America's Got Talent. It will likely return in summer 2015 with a 14-episode order.

The Night Shift has averaged a solid 6.7 million viewers and a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 since debuting May 27.

Since landing a series order in 2013, The Night Shift has had somewhat of a rocky road. Originally slated for a midseason bow, NBC pushed the series to a less-competitive slot in the summer. It wraps its eight-episode first season July 15.

From studio Sony Pictures Television, the series focuses on the men and women who work the overnight shift in the ER at San Antonio Memorial Hospital. Eoin Macken, Jill Flint, Ken Leung, Brendan Fehr, Daniella Alonso, Robert Bailey Jr., Jeananne Goossen, J.R. Lemon and Freddy Rodriguez star in the series.

The news comes hours after SPT successfully revived Community — canceled by NBC in May — for a 13-episode sixth season at Yahoo Screen, bringing the Dan Harmon comedy one step closer to fulfilling its unofficial #sixseasonsandamovie mantra. SPT is known for aggressively fighting for its shows, in the past bringing back Damages for two seasons on DirecTV following its FX run and packaging hot property The Blacklist with a fifth season of Community, but the studio isn't always successful. In 2013, SPT failed to bring back ABC's cult comedy Happy Endings for a third season following talks with USA Network.

Congrats to Daniella! This is also good news for Scott Wolf, who has a recurring role on the show. :)
