I'm so looking forward to this movie:

Quote:

Whitney. "Can I Be Me?"

Whitney Houston was a sure thing, or as sure as the music industry had ever seen. A transcendent talent with pedigree and mentorship to match, she was going to be the greatest female vocalist ever. For a time, she was, and then she all-too-publicly fell short.

Documentarian Nick Broomfield and iconic music video director Rudi Dolezal offer a never-before-seen backstage look at the height of Houston’s stardom and trace with penetrating detail the forces that contributed to her shortened career and subsequent death in 2012, at age 48. Whether it be racism, religion, drugs, sexuality, self-doubt, gossip, rivalry, insufficient training, the demands of parents and the industry, a troubled marriage playing out in headlines, or the inevitable toll those stresses take from so muscular and passionate a singer, the directors leave nothing unturned. They create a picture of a remarkable woman who needed more help than she received and provide an unflinching, gripping, and wholly committed exploration of talent given and taken away, in an era obsessed with how that talent lives when the stage lights go down.

It looks interesting!

Hamburgo1001 03-24-2017 08:59 PM

It really does. By the sound of things, it looks like there'll finally be someone brave enough to tackle the rumors that have been swirling around Whitney's sexuality for decades. I know the Whitney Houston estate is currently working on an authorized documentary as well and while I'm definitely going to watch it, I expect that one to be a very watered down affair. Since Whitney's death (and the death of her only child), it has become pretty apparent that the whole family is deeply fcked up and there will surely be a lot of things they don't want the public to know about.

There is a tv programme called Autopsy which features the autopsies of famous people. They have featured Whitney and her daughter. Almost all of the famous people featured died of complications involving drugs.

I saw the qualifying for the F1 Australian GP. I love the new cars and the new graphics. The pink Force India looks lovely. :D

I actually saw both of those episodes and found the explanation for Whitney's death very plausible.

I haven't seen any of the action this weekend, but I do like the way the new cars look in pictures. :)

Great F1 race! I hope it will be a close race this season.

I didn't watch, but by the sound of things, Ferrari should be able to pose a real challenge to Mercedes this year. Thank god for that because it was about time that somebody stepped up. :)

Yes, they should be good. :)

Is anybody here watching the Figure Skating World Championships? The pair skating competition was really, really great yesterday evening. I don't think I have ever seen a pair making it look as easy as these 2:

Absolutely unreal levels of synchronicity.

Sulieter 03-31-2017 02:23 PM

I haven't been watching it. That's awesome!

I usually try to watch the Figure Skating World Championships every year, but the last 2 years they were outside of my time zone, which is why I missed it.

When the Chinese girl crashed, I really thought our pair had it in the bag because they scored 150 points in the Free Skate, but I had no idea how good the Chinese pair really is. And they are both still so young, so you can be sure that they are going to dominate the sport for years to come if they can stay healthy.

I thought the ladies' competition was very disappointing (way too many crashes), but the mens' competition was top notch. Yuzuru Hanyu's performance in the Free Skate was absolutely magical and he's a very deserving world champion:

Awesome skating!

Colony has been renewed for a third season. :D

Aw, that's great! I read they will be moving production to Vancouver for season 3. Do you think that's going to have an effect in terms of budget/production values?

Sulieter 04-07-2017 02:04 AM

I don't know. The main problem with moving there is Josh doesn't like moving away from home too much to film. Luckily the show only has 13 episodes per season so maybe he is fine with that.

Yeah, that sucks and quite a few actors feel that way. I remember when Supergirl moved production to Vancouver, Calista Flockhart departed the project entirely, which made an already unwatchable show even more unwatchable because she was the only good thing about it. Maybe if Josh's homesickness gets to be too strong, he can do what Morris Chestnut did when he was working on "V" and fly home on the weekends to spend time with his family. :)
