Ahhh, nice!
I'm sure she'll do it, and donate as well.

....And someone among those nominated by Stephen better challenge David.

The Ice Bucket Challenge part is stupid and harmful, at least indirectly because it promotes the general trend of Internet challenges, some being obviously dangerous, but even the ice bucket has done at least one victim, and 4 freaking firefighters injured. And by principle I hate everything that promotes crowd mentality (behold the Internet baptism).

But even giving so much money to ALS might not be a good idea, simply because other causes could better use the money. Better explained there.

Do you think we'll get a video of her doing it? I would think it might be a little bit tricky considering that Liz has no social media presence, but I guess someone like Bob could potentially upload it.

I just found this article:

Quote:
Ten underrated actresses we'd watch in anything
Slide show: It's impossible to take your eyes off these unsung scene-stealers

Elizabeth Mitchell
"Lost," "ER," "V"

A living, breathing definition of the phrase “workhorse actress,” Elizabeth Mitchell has played major roles in many TV series over the past couple of decades, and has nearly always managed to be the standout in whatever ensemble she’s a part of.

She recently played the pistol-toting, ass-kicking FBI agent and mother on ABC’s “V,” and had a recurring role on “Lost” as the tough, compassionate Juliet Burke. On the Rob Lowe vehicle “The Lyon’s Den,” a potentially great show that was canceled too soon, she played an alcoholic legal assistant and the secret paramour of an aggressive lawyer (Kyle Chandler). She was Dr. Kim Legaspi on “ER,” Ashley Holloway on “The Time of Your Life,” and the mother endangered by a well-meaning bit of time-travel do-goodery in “Frequency” (an excellent thriller, well worth seeing). Oddly, though, the role that first made me realize the extent of her ability was the title role in the 2000 TV movie “The Linda McCartney Story.” The film itself was mush, a two-hour eulogy to a saintly character made with the cooperation of the McCartney estate, yet Mitchell somehow managed to sidestep the malarkey and suggest a rich inner life. She can seem real or iconic, sometimes both — a crucial quality in a leading lady. She excels at playing logical, dedicated women who hold things together when the world is falling apart.

I came across the shooting diary of the director of Hollywood Palms (who is also the actor playing her ex-husband), and he talks a little about Liz of course.

Those are truly lovely comments. You can tell they aren't just saying those words to be diplomatic.

I was browsing Tumblr today and found this great gifset. I am going to post it here because it covers several of Liz's roles:

That's an excellent gifset, indeed.

Fandom - and writers - often think that a good female character must be nothing but a badass who can shoot things, have to answer to no one and stays as far away as possible from romantic entanglements - or must have an incredibly no-nonsense, straight-forward approach if she enters one. All of that is good and nice but there are so many personalities and attitudes you can explore with fictional characters, and all of them can be interesting, not just those who are role models or tomboys.

Too true. Too many writers seem to think that in order to create a strong female character, they have to be written like a man and that is simply not true. Just look at Carol in The Walking Dead. She started out as a meek and battered woman afraid of her own shadow and she has developed into one of the most compelling characters on the whole show.

Tonight I saw Liz in this Christmas movie on Lifetime. It was about a grown woman waking up 17 years in the past, and she has to try to fix things with her estranged family. Liz plays her mother, and she looked so gorgeous in it
