The shorter teaser didn't do much for me, but the full one looks cool.

Thanks for the clips and all the set pics!

Yup. As far as I know, Freeform shows generally get very low ratings, so the network relies heavily on social media buzz for attention. And as we probably all know, the easiest way to create social media buzz is romance because no other demographic becomes emotionally attached to a series as quickly as the shipper audience.

At the same time, based just on the description, Liz's character seems to be the most interesting, because of the "darker reason" she has to become the owner of the camp.
I'm not sure if we have received any pieces of information concerning the other characters yet, but I agree that Liz's character has the potential to be one of the more intriguing ones in the series.

I have found a new article:

Producer Richard Hatem Reveals New Details on Freeform’s Dead of Summer

Very little is known about Freeform’s highly anticipated new series Dead of Summer. And with good reason: Everyone involved has been tight-lipped about the upcoming anthology series. That is until now.

Speaking with The Sheena Metal Experience, Dead of Summer‘s Consulting Producer Richard Hatem likens the new show to an old classic favorite and reveals one major, juicy detail!

“There’s a summer camp, but the camp is a lot,” Hatem says on the talk show. “It’s like The Shining.”

“These counselors go there and they used to be campers and the camp closed. Now it reopened and now they’re all 19 and they come back to have another summer as counselors and strange things start to happen.”

Here’s where it gets really interesting: “There’s something sort of in the lake, in the dirt, in the air, that manifests in various ways,” Hatem reveals.

Viewers got their possible first look at this manifestation in the latest teaser for the show, which features a young couple going for a dip in Camp Stillwater’s eponymous lake.

Horror icon Tony Todd is keeping his role under wraps. Could he very well be the primary form of this supernatural entity Producer Richard Hatem is speaking of?

We’re calling it now: Elizabeth Mitchell’s character, Deb, who is the new owner of Camp Stillwater is not human! We’re predicting Deb is just one of the “various” forms the entity becomes. That would be a great twist!

Finally, if any of you are still not sold on the series created by Once Upon a Time‘s Edward Kitsis & Adam Horowitz, and Ian Goldberg, Hatem promises that “it’s really fun!”

Any theories?

Well, I will definitely give the pilot a shot and then I'll take it from there. As I mentioned before, I expect DoS to be similar to The 100 but I wouldn't mind it much as long as the show is of the same quality.

Same here. I know CW shows tend to get a bad rep, but The 100 is a damn good show. IMO, the best thing the CW has to offer right now. So, if DoS comes anywhere close to The 100 in terms of quality, I'll be thrilled.
