The Vampire Diaries 1x09 "History Repeating" Discussion http://i36.tinypic.com/ru7jbl.jpg STEFAN LEARNS THE REASON DAMON RETURNED TO MYSTIC FALLS — Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) gets a break from the mysterious new history teacher, Alaric Saltzman (guest star Matt Davis, “Legally Blonde”) and introduces Alaric to Jenna (Sara Canning). Bonnie (Katerina Graham) is having terrifying dreams about one of her ancestors. Despite Elena’s (Nina Dobrev) efforts to smooth things over, Bonnie and Caroline (Candice Accola) continue to argue over the medallion. When the girls hold a séance to help them decide what to do, the results are stranger than any of them expected. Matt (Zach Roerig) comes to Caroline’s aid when she needs a friend. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) finally reveals to Stefan (Paul Wesley) the stunning reason he has returned to Mystic Falls. Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Bryan M. Alaric! :yay:
Regardless whether it's Damon's or not, I found it annoying that Bonnie had to act that way to Caroline on the last episode provided that it was technically Caroline's. Just because her grandmother said it was their ancestors' doesn't give her the rights to fight with Caroline about not returning it. She could've just calmly reason out to Caroline that it was an heirloom, it could've been a better argument rather than Caroline already gave it to her. I wonder how will this continue in this week's episode. Oh, btw, thanks Meg  |
You're welcome hun!
I totally had to post that Alaric picture. :D |

I think they both acted very weird for different reasons. I mean, Caroline was going to pull it off of Bonnie's neck... Is that something a friend would do? I think Bonnie will come up with a better story this episode regarding the necklace, but I don't think she gave it much thought at first what she was going to have to say to Caroline and that's why she got defensive  |
Hey, I have an idea! Why don't we have a séance?
|
I disregarded Damon's involvement in the argument between Caroline and Bonnie. Regardless if Caroline wanted it with Damon's influenced or not, I was questioning Bonnie's defensiveness with Caroline.
As for Caroline's actions, I would defend her because she was under the influence of Damon's powers. Her wanting to pull it off Bonnie's neck? I don't think she'll do that if she was never given (say, powerful) instructionsfrom Damon. Let's get Damon out of the picture. Say Caroline broke up with her normal boyfriend (no power) and gave the necklace to Bonnie and something that she doesn't need/want it. Then Bonnie found out that it was supposedly an heirloom of her family. Caroline realizes that she still wants to hold on to the necklace and asked Bonnie to return it. Would you still think Bonnie acted as a friend? or not defensive? |
I do think Bonnie reacted defensive and I also think she reacted weird, but I think she was genuinely confused about the whole situation. And I think she got upset when she figured out that the real reason Caroline wanted it back was because of Damon (to get back in his good graces). Does Bonnie have a right to the necklace? No, I don't think so. Maybe she should have given it back, maybe she should have kept it.
But I think Bonnie was really surprised when Caroline wanted it back and especially at the way Caroline asked for it. "It makes you look fat" would have probably tipped anyone off that something wasn't right. Also, I kind of have a feeling that the necklace might be influencing her a little. Didn't her Grams say "It found you." Bonnie also went to Caroline later on to apologize and explain, but they got into another fight, so I think we will see what Bonnie says for herself this week. ETA: And I don't think we can disregard Damon completely, because him treating her the way he did is also part of why Bonnie reacted this way. He left her confused with bite marks all over and obvious signs of abuse. Both Bonnie and Elena have talked to her about it, and then Caroline comes to Bonnie with a bogus excuse about how she wants the necklace back and if I were Bonnie I would have wondered if Caroline were just doing it to get back together with Damon. Because why couldn't she just have said: "Damon wants his necklace back, I have to give it to him."? |
