If they want to survive season7, they better do it, none wants him with another woman, it'd ruin his character and they'd lose those last 4-5 fans they still have

That would be great Anna...Damon honoring Elena.

Personally, I wouldn't mind him turning his emotions off but your arguments are right. Beside it would be too repetitive. I just hope we won't see happy Damon for the most part of the season 7. And I also hope that the writers won't forget about Elena and they will have all the characters remember her somehow and feel the deep loss of our warrior princess/
