The Vampire Diaries Season Three Discussion Thread



Season three opens the door to learn more about Klaus and the Original Family as his motives for wanting Stefan
on his side are finally revealed. As Stefan sinks deeper into the dark side, Damon and Elena struggle with the guilt
of their growing bond, even as they work together to bring Stefan back from the edge. Plus, the ghosts from Jeremy's
past have a powerful message they're trying to deliver to him, not to mention the impact they're having on his relationship
with Bonnie. And, as Caroline and Tyler grow closer, a war erupts between their families.

You're welcome Roxy! I thought I'd open this thread so that it would be easier for everyone to talk about Season 3 instead of just going to the individual threads which usually aren't used much after the episode airs and goes through that first week.

The site where I usually order my dvd's doesn't have it up yet It comes out September 11 here so they better put it on their site by then! Still not sure if i'm gonna get the regular or the bluray edition. Bluray is so expensive

I loved Delena in this season otherwise everything else was eh for me.

As usual, Stefan was also amazing in this season. Ripper was loose, and I loved it! Paul W is simply the best!

Yeah, the first half with Ripper!Stefan was better than the second half.

The first half of the season is def. my favorite although there were some episodes near the end that I like too like Heart of Darkness, Before Sunset and The Departed. When Alaric died, that was pretty darn sad. It's funny, they always give people like Alaric, Bonnie and Jeremy these huge send offs when they die and then they bring them back so on re-watch it's not as sad.

And wow, I chose a huge picture for the OP look at Klaus! So old school.

Bringing Out The Dead and Before Sunset are the only episodes I like from the second half.

They were one of the best dynamics of Season 3. Paul and Joseph really worked well together and in the beginning of Season 3, the only time I liked scenes with Klaus was if Stefan was included.

Bringing Out The Dead was a good episode for Caroline moments and there was a Matt\Caroline hug. That is the episode we get introduced to all the Originals. After that, the show got waaaaay too crowded to give everyone enough screentime. After awhile, I felt annoyed that the Originals were getting more screentime than the main characters so it's good that eventually they got their own show so I can enjoy them over there. And it's the first time that Tatia was mentioned. To think we're finally going to get her backstory on the Originals on Monday. Can't wait for that!

I agree. I think the spin off came a season late, though. I didn't like the Originals being in s4.

Hi all! I'm new on here and a big fan. I'm rewatching VD from the beginning and in light of Season 6, have some questions about Season 3 I was hoping you could help with.

1) They say is Season 3 loads of times that witches can't be vampires, and Damon turns Abby to stop her being a witch. But wasn't the mum of the originals a vampire witch? Or is that different because she created them? Or is she not a vampire because I thought she was.

2) Stefan turns his humanity off for Claus, but it's never clear when he turns it back on again. It seems like this gradual change which I didn't think it was how it worked. Didn't he have to turn it on, feel guilty and then get over it?
