Ah, okay, that explains their twisted logic! Thanks Kara!

Happy ending...?

I binge watched the S1 - S7, ad then tracked S8 week by week. I enjoyed the show and the characters for the most part. It got quite sappy towards the end (epic sappy).

Everyone ended up a happy afterlife, but what about Caroline? I know Claus sent her a present, but don't you think she might prefer to be staked so she could enjoy mom, dad, friends, Stefan, etc.? I'm sure not everyone of the pack died at the same time, and Bonnie was basically WiFi to the afterlife so they should have known.

I think they should have given Katherine a few more big and tragic kills too. She seemed weak. If she'd killed Matt or his dad or taken the twins, or something it would have been better.

Still it's the end of a series and it wasn't bad.

wow I was appreciating the finale a lot more before all these holes were brought up. :lmao:

Quote:

Did anyone notice that she must have curled her hair within like 5 to 10 minutes, after she pretended to be Elena with straight hair?
:lmao: Lets just pretend Katherine was wearing a wig too.

I didnt think about Stefan giving Damon the cure without knowing Elena had woken. I guess he had faith in Bonnie lol... They really should have just gone with Elena waking immediately in the episode but then being unconscious because of Katherine knocking her out or something lol.

But didnt Katherine age a lot because she took the cure? Why didnt that happen to stefan and damon?

It does seem they could have just stabbed Katherine and then vampire speeded out at the last minute. Even if they died trying they still could have tried.

Also, I hate that it was so important for Stefan to sacrifice himself in order to redeem himself for killing Enzo, while nobody seems to care anymore that Damon killed Tyler earlier this season?
THIS!!! Killing Tyler was the worst ting they did this season as it served ZERO purpose and no one even cared.

eternalfate 03-12-2017 11:36 PM

Damon and Elena? okay... I never shipped them but EVERYTHING with them just felt off... even them ending together felt odd and strange.
Even if I didn't ship them, even I was expecting better scenes than that... there was no way to get a better reunion or scenes JP and writers?

Katherine in the episode?? Felt irrelevant. I love Katherine but what was the purpose?

Elena in the episode, her best scenes were with Bonnie and I feel that Elena should've been in the episode awake from the beginning to the end, that probably would've made a lot of things a lot better or if it was an 2 hour episode event.

That scene in the beginning of the episode when Elena woke up from the casket right after Bonnie dream of her felt "epic";) And could've been a great Elena/Damon moment and probably made things less odd? Seeing as how Damon was a lot LESS odd and strange with Katherine and was so off with Elena like he fell out of love with her or something.:look:

So, probably it would've been better if Damon/Elena reunion was their fake beginning of the episode reunion.
Makes me with Nina probably was in for the final 3 episodes of the season because they could've actually had D/E have a proper reunion where we see them actually talk, and Damon to open up about how it's been but it just felt so rushed and the acting could've been a lot better during those scenes.

The SE scene felt ... a bit off for me as well.:lmao: I loved the scene but the goodbye didn't feel great enough for me....

I don't know, probably Nina needed to get her groove back as Elena and Katherine, and that's why my feelings are all over the place? Although that first scene in the beginning with Bonnie, I felt was so well done!

Stefan dying.:blank: no words, no sadness, just predictable, "It's alwas Stefan" in every sense even when it's to be miserable. No way in the world were the writers going to kill off Damon.:rotfl: If I was told 10 episodes before the series finale who would die, Stefan or Damon, I would've bet my house and an 1 million dollar debt at it being Stefan. lol Because the writers have shown for seasons how they don't care for Stefan at times.:(

Bonnie staying alive!!! Yes.:woot: About time.:) And it's a shame that the best thing about the series finale is that Bonnie stayed alive because it goes to show you how the writers never cared enough about her life in this series.:( A shame their best joy was figuring out how to kill Bonnie yet again. However, spending her life with a ghost? I guess Bonnie should really understand why Jeremy wanted to do it in Season 3 with Anna, huh? :look:

I feel killing Enzo off was irrelevant if Bonnie will never be able to really move on because Enzo is with her most of the times.:(

Damon/Caroline sharing a scene in the series finale, but nothing with Damon/Alaric or Damon/Bonnie?? :blank: Okay writers.:look:

Bonnie PROVED YET AGAIN!! that WITHOUT HER! all the favorites would be dead.:woot: Yet again she comes to the rescue and goes all out to save everyone. Great scenes! Makes everyone even more thankful that Elena was selfless at the beginning of the episode and didn't allow herself to wake up for Bonnie can live her life.:in_love:
However, that scene with Bonnie and the Bennett witches was my favorite scene of the episode.:thud:

Caroline... her scenes were good....

Stefan reuniting with Lexi! my favorite Stefan scene of the episode.

We couldn't get in a Jeremy/Elena reunion?:look: Okay......:blank:
The episode made me wish it was 2 hours, probably things could've been better if so, and I loved that scene with Elena writing in her diary.:thud::thud: Such a great flashback as to why this show is called Vampire "Diaries" and I love how her main mention was about how Stefan really brought her back to life after her parents had died.:bawl:.:in_love:

Probably would rate it an 6.5/10 or even lower. I didn't feel any emotions and I was finally happy to be free.:( Probably because I emotionally detached myself from the show years ago so it made the series finale much easier for me to watch...

Pros
- Seeing Nina Dobrev back.:)
- BONNIE FREAKING BENNETT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thud:
- Bonnie proving yet again that all of these other characters would be dead without her strength.
- That Damon/"Elena" scene at the beginning of the episode! The fakeout reunion that showed some growth in Damon.;) In the early seasons, he would have believed that she was really Elena but his love grew for Elena and his hatred for Katherine still exists so he can easily tell them apart now.
- Bonnie scene with Caroline daughters.
- Alaric actually remembering his friendship with Damon.
- A lot of old faces.:)
- Stefan telling Elena to tell Caroline that he got her message. Such a lovely moment!
- Stefan/Lexi scene.:woot:
- The scene with the Bennett's saving the town.:thud; Best scene of the episode for me.:)
- Bonnie/Elena friendship actually feeling like a friendship again! Feeling authentic.
- Elena writing an her diary.:woot:
- Bonnie leaving Mystic Falls to travel the world. I've been wishing for that since Season 1!
- ALL THE Stefan/Damon scenes! One of the most powerful moments of the series is when Damon compelled his human brother to leave.:bawl: I was like.:jaw_drop: That was an amazing moment. Because I really thought the writers would go the predictable route with Damon being all accepting and taking Stefan advice to leave and live forever with Elena, but he didn't do that. That was just a terrific moment from both.

Cons
- I wish Nina Dobrev could've been back earlier.:( She could've gotten back into her character more.
-Katherine keep getting stabbed? was that suppose to make all of us cheer? It just made me think that all that stabbing could've been used for Elena scenes.
- No real interaction with Stefan/Katherine but a lot for Damon/Katherine????
- More Damon/Katherine interaction than Damon/Elena??
- Katherine telling Damon they will all choose Stefan, sadly that quote seems outdated at this point of the series.:look: We aren't in season 2 anymore.
- Damon/Elena lackluster reunion.
- Stefan dying.
- Implying that Bonnie will spend the rest of her life with an ghost.:( Reminiscing to Jeremy much...
- Scene with Damon/Caroline but no interaction with his supposedly best friend Bonnie and no resolution to his relationship with Alaric even if I never cared for the Damon/Alaric friendship much to begin with.
- Stefan telling Damon he was always the best brother......:blank: WTF?:lmao: Seemed like an bad fanfiction from me, I'd like to know which writer wrote that quote because that was when a great moment turned sour to me.....
- The lack of Elena in favor of an character I actually do love more in Katherine... sadly Katherine just wasn't needed in the episode....:blank:

Can Bonnie actually see Enzo? I thought he was just watching over her.

No, Katherine didn't age a lot because she took the cure. She aged a lot because Silas drained her blood to try and get the cure himself, so once the cure was removed from her she aged rapidly.

Yeah the treatment of Tyler makes me happy I stopped watching after season four. Nice to see the show also continued the trend of Damon getting away with everything and playing the hero/better man while Stefan got called out and paid his dues for everything he ever did ever.

Still though, those first 2/3 seasons were amazing so although I'm glad I stopped watching when I did I do have great nostalgia for the show.

quin0611 03-13-2017 06:57 AM

I watched it! The episode was okay.

I'm sad Stefan died! :bawl: Cool we saw Nina as Katherine and Elena one last time.

I did love the final Stefan and Elena scene the face touch  and handholding and his scene with Lexi.:thud:

I wish Stefan and Elena/Bonnie & Damon were endgame couples! They should have been should have been end game!

Yay Bonnie lived and was strong and her family was by her side saving the world! :thud:

and the diary scenes were good too. It was cool to see all 3 girls together too.

I wished Bonnie and Damon had a scene too since they were best friend he could have hugged her goodbye since she was leaving Mystic Falls. :look:

I found interesting it was Stefan who said the line "I was feeling Epic" which is the title of the episode!

Ian's acting seemed off to me in the Damon & Elena scenes.

I loved when Stefan said that, because he did it in his typically understated, humble way.

Yeah, it did. He had just come out of the tomb where his brother died for him, though. I have seen few actors be able to run through such a gamut of different, conflicting emotions. I think there just wasn't enough time for things to happen naturally. Ironically the reaction he had in the beginning of the episode was more what I expected--the one where he was temporarily fooled again by Katherine. That was kind of fitting though..since oddly his early love story with Elena happened to actually he and Katherine and he didn't know it!

THIS EXACTLY. I didn't really care about Tyler that much and probably cared more for Damon than I should have given his bad behavior but the writers lead you to this since both stories stopped really progressing.

It was such a disappointment since Kat was so entertaining. It should've been Damon to get the cure like they claim they originally planned.

Alexa 03-14-2017 12:15 AM

Thanks for answering Jerry. I think that sounds so odd though, how would her missing blood cause her to die slow like that, wouldnt she just die immediately? But i guess I should just stop asking with this show.

I think they just wanted to bring Kat back to tie her into the first season and her arc.But they didnt do a great job because the boys barely got a good revenge plan on her, SK didnt even interact really.

Caroline will outlive everyone except Klaus, but that doesnt mean she wont form new friendships or make new bonds over the years as she lives her life. I think though once all her friends die and her children die that she will want to walk into the sun too. In a way I kind of love that Caroline will be the last one standing though. ;)

Yes, agree. It would have been far more enjoyable had Elena woken up first, reunited and then helped everyone in the episode with the stuff going on, but I guess it didnt fit with the timeline because vicky was ringing the bell. but they coulda worked something different out i think. idk.

I agree that Nina felt a bit off. Probably because she hadn't done those roles for two years. Her scene with Bonnie was great but with the boys it felt weird to me too. Elena should have been a lot sadder with Stefan's death too right?

Again I think it all comes down to time. They just didnt have enough time for everything to really feel final but they should have been working towards this finale way easier in the season. Like started episode 13 as the first part to the finale. Thats what I would do as a writer. They just waited till the last minute to try to wrap things up which is what a lot of shows tend to do.

I'm just praying a lot of stuff makes the dvds.

My two favorite moments were the stefan/lexi scene and damon/stefan scenes for sure. S/L I never even liked all that much but it gave me so much joy that Stefan was able to see his best friend in the afterlife, especially after her sad death in 108. it was great that we got to see a happy moment for Stefan.

And DS were both just amazing and selfless with one another. Damon compelling Stefan, oh my god, that was Damon's best moment on the series imo. And then Stefan going back and injecting Damon with the cure so he could be happy, again, one of Stefan's best moments imo. I just love the both so much.

Quote:

Of course! The episode was very much about Stefan, and in the beginning it was about him coming to Mystic Falls so it was very fitting. I think that si why the writers chose to kill him because it allowed him to get the focus. I mean, had they killed Damon the episode would have felt like it was about him. I think people need to remember that Stefan didnt just want to die, (even if he did) he wanted to save people he cared about. So to me, he went out as a hero. I think thats a positive for his cahracter. He sacrificed himself for his brother, and it only makes me love Stefan more.

Summer Falls 03-15-2017 05:44 AM

Just watchrd the episode keep in mind i havent seen 3 seasons of this show just snippets here and there but i did want to see how it ended for the characters thay i cared about .. overall i enjoted it i think it wasnt disappointing like other shows ( hello how i meet your mother)

I think certain things where obvious stefan dying rather than damon .. yep not shocked but i am sad cause i love stefan him and Caroline are my fav .. but i guess they felt someone needed to die so they chose him cause on enzo cause stefan is that guy that would wsnt to make things right .

The scenes with him and damon was perfect i did actually cry cause its this brotherky battle of who saves who .. and it was beautiful to see damon be a big brother that stefan remember.. and when he compleled stefan and stefan still came back just perfect:clap: - moment 1 when i cried .

Elena being back nice i think everyone right would of been nice if she was there longer she would of been able to be reintroduced to everyone and it wouldnt be super quick than bam done .

Elena and Damin ive never been a big shipper of them but i dont minf that they end up together human and married ... but no kids??

Bonnie i never been a big fan of her character but i liked seeing her in this last season im definitely happy she stayed a bad ass witch and human .. such a big deal for this sh9w and thankfully she got it .. i wish sje got a much more happier ending enzo bei g there for her a better happy ever after she lost a lot .. but she will travel and he would be with her .. sweet

Stefan wow poor guy i love him and him dying kills me .. he didnt want to do it but he knew he had to to .. for damon , bonnie and Caroline .. so sad he didnt get to live his life with Caroline my shipping heart is sad they are perfect but dont get a happy ever after .. so them 2 saying goodbye was my sad moment number 2 when i cried .

Caroline .. my fav last vampire . So she will outlive everyone even her kids which is super sad .. in most ways her ending isnt final and i think there is a reason she could always go to the originals for klaus but i want wished she had a happy ever after with stefan .. when elena told her that stefan heard her words it was so sad poor caroline.

Ok so the ghost of everyone a nice touch seeing elena parents all 3 of them aunt jenna  but no jeremy? What happens to him .. also the ghost of tyler and vicki? Where do they go?.. stefan bff beinf there was sweet i loved that the afterlife is still in mystic falls the school , elenas house and the best bit the salvatore manon cute ending .. loved seeing how happt the brothers were to see each other again and poor damon being so worried thay be wouldnt ..

This is really gross, no offense. Centuries of eternal life or not, wishing suicide on your faves is kind of distasteful. It's one thing wanting her to die, but hoping she'd willingly take her own life? Gross.
