The episode was...long for me.

Damon - FREAKING YES FINALLY GOT THE EVIL MERMAID OUT OF YOUR DAMN HEAD . Now time to face the shiit you pulled *cough* Tyler *cough* .

Stefan - Sassy ahole . Messing things up and delivering truthbombs. Sad the bro-trip is ending though. I wish we had gotten at least another episode of them being murderous morons.

Caroline - I mean you realize that Stefan gave everything up for you right? I mean he legit gave away his freedom and sobriety and sanity to keep your twitches safe. I'm all for steroline not happening, but let's face the facts of the situation and put the blame on yourself because Stefan was right. You enabling this behavior is on you, not him.

Bonnie - Happy she's not wanting to turn into a vampire. I was worried and I get that it makes sense logistically since Enzo is himself a vampire, but that was never the life Bonnie wanted for herself and I'm glad she's sticking with that. She loves him and if it was only about her feelings for him she would turn, but she has never wanted to struggle the way her friends have (and she is thinking of Elena's fate as well). Just happy the writers didn't make it all about Elena or have Bonnie want to be a vampire for Enzo.

Enzo - Great scene of him confessing why he's being even more protective of Bonnie. I hope that he can be a human for her, but I don't understand how that could be achieved unless they decide to travel to another prison world since the cure is in Elena and it's kind of meant for Damon...I think?

Evil Mermaid #1 - Oh yay let's see how long it takes for her to break out of her jail cell .

Evil Mermaid #2 - Shady af

Matt - You're life's purpose is to ring a bell...and they said you'd never amount to anything .

Random dude with Matt - Can we exchange you for the other intern? She at least had a personality.

Random chick turned vampire - I liked that Caroline has someone to kind of mentor again and help her through this change, but at the same time I just don't care.

Flashbacks - Nice to see the DE MMF flashbacks. When I was a sweet summer child I fell for DE in s1 from that episode alone. Oh the memories . Could have done without the DC dance because I hate that dynamic with a passion, but oh wells.

Overall the episode was ok-ish, but seemed like such a filler episode. Just something to stick in to get the relationships where they need them while the plot really went nowhere.

I am over Caroline And SC need to be done. I am so sick of Stefan always getting the sht end of everything.

This last season has been nothing but sucky...

^ I am really not (the ghost hug is appreciated though ) I just really had hoped that it would have brought on some nostalgia, and I have literally felt nothing... I just want it to hurry up and end I just hang around because I am a sucker for Stefan, and I need to know what happens with him in the end

I feel the same (minus the Stefan groupie love ). I started s8 hoping for a nice trip down memory lane considering they promoted this season with KW attached, but alas I was screwed over again . Now I'm just wanting it over and without too many brain cells lost in the process .

Is it just me or do Dorian and Matt have chemistry? Even last week I was wondering if they were lowkey flirting I know it's not the case but it would make Matt much more interesting....

Bonnie/Caroline love their friendship

Stefan/Caroline - I'm actually happy with what we got. I saw what went on as positive for their story and what I think is Stefan's individual arc.

Sybil - still annoying

Seline - I don't know what's up with her and whether she can be trusted.

Damon - Glad to see the humanity coming through. Also glad that it was acknowledged that he actively helped kidnap those kids. I mean he left them in those flesh eating Siren's company for five hours when he could have easily got them away. I'm glad I don't have to hear about how he helped saved the kids. It was all about getting out of Hell for him.

Caroline - My poor bb having to prop DE Hope that's the last of it. Glad to see her acknowledge the positives of being a vamp. I've seen a lot of debate recently on Caroline and how she sees vampirism so it was nice having something from canon.

Caroline/Violet I always get excited when there's a chance for her to mentor a newbie vamp but it always ends badly I hope she doesn't but Violet will probably die.

The best part of the episode was the scene where Caroline talked to this new vampire girl. Loved their conversation, but most of all, I LOVED that they used the old score back from S1 and S2 for the scene.
That was easily the best thing of the episode for me.

I have been missing the old score for quite a long time now, at least a couple of seasons. I feel like every season they used less and less of the old, beautiful score.
So this is why I was happy to hear some old, familiar melodies again.

That was my favourite scene too Caroline and mini!Caroline Ugh I really hope she makes it out of this show alive. Caroline needs to have at least one vampire student who succeeds.

Now that I've had time to get over Caroline being used to prop one of the original triangle ships which I've always loathed her doing I gotta say good job figuring out how to bring back Damon's humanity. A slow and steady plan I think she's got a similar plan for Stefan.

I honestly thought the mini!Caroline idea was rather hilarious. I guess they'll find a way to kill her off in two episodes, though.

I sort of like Seline. The fact that she wants to kill Sybil is good by me.

So happy to see Miss Mystic Falls back on the show! So many good memories.

The DE flashbacks! Damon this entire episode was so great, I love how he pushed Sybil out of his way. I missed good Damon.I'm glad he's getting his humanity back.

S/C were so fun to watch, it was hard seeing Caroline deal with this Stefan. Her throwing the ring at him was sad, and I’m a tiny bit frustrated because she “gave up” when she knew why he did this to start with, HOWEVER, she did say “for now” stay away from me, so it’s not like she wont take him back once he’s himself again. And I think that ring is totally gonna do for him what DE’s necklace did for Damon.

Damon/Caroline scenes were great. Caroline trying to help Damon was so great to see.

The Bonnie/Enzo discussion was a bit too much for me, it just felt repeated to me but I felt sort of bad for Enzo, learning that Bonnie would never want to turn for him.

I too wasn’t sure why there was a random vampire girl in the episode. Felt weird.

Coz Stefan wanted to make mini!Carolines I shouldn't laugh because those poor girls didn't deserve it. But he thought he could turn them and then they'd become murderous vampires. But looks like Caroline will mentor her so she ruined his plan. And she ruined his plan to stop Damon from getting his humanity. I love that she won against him

I actually really enjoyed this episode upon rewatch. Any time the episodes do callbacks to previous episodes I enjoy it. This is the 3rd mystic falls episode the show did and I like that, brings back nice memories.

Also, the episode revolved around Damon and his memories of Elena so I loved that too. Bringing flashbacks into it helps to keep the character of Elena going which I love. I love that Damon cant let go of the necklace. When he described it giving him warmth awww. That was so cute. I also love that Caroline was fighting for him. SO GLAD that Sybil gave him his humanity back at the end. Even if it will be torturous for him, I need that Damon back already, its been 9 long episodes. I also liked that we saw flashes of him killing Tyler so we know he's feeling guilt over that death.

Bonnie and Enzo were cute, they have always sort of just been there for me. I dont really care one way or the other about them, but it is nice to see Bonnie finally happy. I understand why Bonnie didn't want to turn, she doesn't know what that would do to the deal with Elena. I like the idea of Enzo taking the cure instead.

So tired of Sybil. I was glad that Seline finally wanted to do something good and kill her sister. I also really like Dorian and liked that plot point.

Stefan was pretty unbearable this episode, I want his humanity back already. It was hard to watch him be so awful to Caroline. It was really sad when she gave him the ring back at the end but it didnt sound like she was giving up on him completely, just for now. The whole vampire turning plot was a bit strange but it was nice to see Caroline be kind to that girl who is going through what she went through. Another nice callback.
