Kat always seem to trot out the company line. She's never going to say anything against Julie publicly. That's her employer. So, maybe she really is happy, I don't know, but if she weren't, I doubt she would ever badmouth the show publicly.

I'll wait to see what they do with Bonnie in 1994!land and whether they have Damon make a big deal about getting her back, before I decide if this is a bad storyline for her. If they really pursue getting her back, it would actually be more than her character has been getting for years.

Why is Bonnie always the one left behind or having to sacrifice everything/herself? It's so ridiculous at this point

Not a Defan fan at all.. but that last scene with them Yeah.. that is what I have always wanted It made me cry..
Paul and Ian are amazing together

Stefan.. my boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, boo, bear He just breaks my heart. I love him so much and Paul is soooooooo good!!!

Alaric, please sit your hypocritical and douche-y self down and STFU!! My side eying this character has gone to completely feral. I don't like him!!

Really not enjoying Steroline at all. Why do the writers have to screw up the one good thing Stefan had

I've been waiting so long for a Defan hug in present time. I am dead. The only thing missing was an ILY.

I think an ILY would have been too much for that scene, but I expect it'll happen at some point in the series. Or at least, it better.

I laughed at the Jo/Alaric ending scene. I'm sorry, still not buying this relationship.

I like Parkwood, but how "funny" (in an unbelievable but still believable because of what show this is way) that they cared more about the possibility of Tyler turning into a werewolf than a human being dying right in front of them.

Eh to the Bonnie/Damon/Kai plot. Bonnie sacrificed herself again....must be Thursday. Don't care anymore. I mean, why should I when she obviously doesn't care about herself and the writers don't care either. Neither do any of the characters aside from Jeremy.
I agree with almost all of this.

The episode was entertaining enough, but the defan scene is the one I want to watch again and really enjoy.

rotfl. Jo/Alaric. She was kind of cute in this episode, but I just don't feel it: Alo (there's no way they're gonna be Jalaric, Jenny and/or Jer share that name). Idk there if there's no chemistry or if it's the lines they're given... probably both.

And above all, Dayum! Dayum Dayum. Tyler pissed me off. He's hit someone and all he cares about is his stupid werewolf curse. Who gives a damn? There are dozens of people dying. If you don't want to transform, just go the same way the guy who was run over did.

lol, must be Thursday indeed. I kind of liked Damon in this episode. How he cared about Bonnie, and I ain't no Damon fan.

As much as I love Alaric,, his newfound attitude is pissing me off. First he tells Jer to suck it up, now he is being unfair to Stefan? What the hell did you do to bring your so-called bestie back? Look up a few books? And are you seriously comparing your relationship with Damon to Stefan? Those brothers have known each other for about 2 centuries.

I forgot to mention this, but I agree.
Why is Stefan getting a hard time for trying to move on from Damon, yet Jeremy is getting a hard time for not moving on from Bonnie? And what does that say about the writers'/characters' feelings for Damon and Bonnie?

From what I know, Jer won't handle Bonnie's not-return very well. I'm curious about what he does.

It definitely better. And yeah it probably would have been too much, besides ILY was written all over that hug.

I'm rewatching the episode, and I really like that scene where Liv is speaking with Jo on the phone. The whole scene is so sad and good.

I think at the very least it shows that Alaric is biased and a bit hypocritical because Damon is his best friend and Bonnie and Alaric aren't really close. Of course he can say to Jeremy to mourn and move on from Bonnie but it's harder to actually do and be okay without someone else doing it when its his best friend. It seems like everyone is holding Stefan to this super high standard of how he usually is but his brother died - the one constant he has had in his life died. That changes a person and while I don't think I would mourn the way Stefan does, it's not atypical for someone to do what Stefan was doing. It's classic avoidance coping.

at least they're allowed some sort of SELF-preservation.
The thing is now because she's been like this since like S2 I would say, it feel like part of her character though. Her risking her life or sacrificing her life is something Bonnie would do in a heartbeat and because it has happened so often, it doesn't seem abnormal when she does it anymore. There are people like that though in the world, that put others happiness before their own. Is it fair that Bonnie does that? Probably not because she usually has to suffer even if she didn't do anything to deserve it.

Bonnie is not allowed to exist as a character with feelings.
She does suppress them a lot, this is true. There are times where we'll see her finally break down like outside of the Mikaelson mansion or when she almost killed switch off!Elena. Sometimes, she may briefly share how she's feeling with Grams, Jeremy, Matt or Caroline but you're right - most of the time she keeps it inside. It's another consistent trait that her character has shown since around late S1.

The problem for me, I think, is that I'm not sure this is intentional. I would accept this if I knew the writers had thought this through perfectly and had such a grasp on Bonnie's char that they make her suppress all of her emotions for the sake of consistency. I love a writer who knows exactly what they're doing, and I really hope they do. But I think it comes down to the fact that they're just too concerned about showing Elena's grief, and Damon's and (sometimes) Stefan's to give Bonnie the thought she deserves.

I still have hope for Bonnie. I mean, if Kai can't be killed, does that mean that Bonnie can't die in there either?
