FRESH STARTS AND SECOND CHANCES — After spending the past four months coping with the loss of Damon in an unconventional and potentially dangerous way, Elena has returned to Whitmore College for the start of sophomore year. Unable to move on, Caroline is desperate to find a way to reverse the anti-magic spell the Travelers have put over Mystic Falls and grows frustrated when her calls to Stefan go unanswered. Tyler, who is human once again, has a run-in at a football tailgate that tests his ability to control his anger, while Matt worries that Jeremy is dealing with the loss of Bonnie in a self-destructive way. Alaric, who is struggling to adjust to his new life as a vampire, finds himself in an awkward situation when he meets Jo (guest star Jodi Lyn O’Keefe), a beautiful doctor at the university hospital. Last, while everyone believes Stefan is off tracking a lead to get Damon and Bonnie back, Elena is shocked when she learns the truth of what he has really been up to.

This episode was not that good, imo.

Can't stand Damon/Elena. Elena and Caroline acted like Bonnie was a dog rather than their best friend that sacrificed everything for them.

I didn't understand why they were blaming Luke.

The only interesting bit was the end, imo.

LOL this was a pretty boring episode. Elena whining is not entertaining, Also it seems like she barely even cares about Bonnie. Like she only wanted Damon back. Also everyone was blaming Luke for everything like leave the guy alone.

I wonder where Damon and Bonnie are though. They seem pretty happy. Do they remember anything?

Good episode, no action, but we knew it would have been more about feelings, so it was ok, it's painfull to see them so broken and lost :bawl: :(

It's good to have Rick back, we needed a adult in this show again and I'm interested in seeing him dealing with his vampire life  Also, his scene with Elena was very touching, hope he won't go trough her plan though :(

Caroline trying to fix things was good to see, I like her determination in bringing Stefan back, and she was less judgy than usual, which was ok to me

Need to re-watch Stefan's scenes, not sure how I feel about him, don't want to comment without a clear look :look:

I liked Tyler trying to control himself but still being loyal to his friends, especially when he attacked Luke for Elena, it was good

Liv Tyler is sailing!!! :lmao:

I'm curious about the team Matt joined, wonder if we'll have humans vs supernaturals finally and handled well, hope so :fingers_crossed:

She!Doc seems funny and nice, I may like her

Elena was great, I liked the mixed feelings, the battle against darkness, the desperation, kudos to Nina as always  I don't think her plan will work in the end, but I get why she wants to do so, must be so painful for her :bawl: :bawl:

Delena, my babies, were beautiful  :bawl: Love all the references that have been made about them

Last scene left me speechless, don't know what to think about it :blank:  :goof:

She cleraly would love to have both of them back, with Damon is just different because with him it'd have been eternity, while I thin she already got used to the idea that Bonnie would grow old and die one day (like Matt or Jer too), I think it's just about different perspectives

They mourned Bonnie for months, I don't think that's showing no caring about her  :)

Well, he's the reason one of them died, it's logical they don't like him and barely stands him  Like he cared only about his sister and did what he did ;)

They mourned Bonnie for months off screen -- that's pretty darn convenient. But yet Elena gets how many episodes to mourn and cry over Damon on screen? And if Stefan had died, we would've seen Caroline crying over him on screen, too. Bonnie was their best friend since they were kids. Damon is a guy Elena has known for what? 3 years?

Well, that was the writers' choice, it's not Elena's fault :) A lot of things were "shown" off-screen, even things about DE or SE last years, it doesn't mean they matter less, it means they cannot all be shown in 40 minutes :) For now it seems she only got this one episode to mourn Damon too anyway, and she lost the battle so much she'll have to be compelled to move on, we won't see her mourn him anymore ;)

Again, in my opinion it's a different type of mourn, both of them are important, to mourn the bestfriend you have known all you life and to mourn the man you want to spend etenrity with, Elena love them both, mourned them both, it was just dealt in different ways

You have way more faith in these writers than I do. ;)

First reactions...I was a little disappointed, as the episode did seem slow. Although I am soooo happy the show is back!!!

Loved Elena's scenes...but I do think they're dragging it out. Trying to squeeze every.last.little.bit from the tragedy.

Caroline was great; loved that she's at least trying to do something. Somewhere.

Surprised about Stefan...that he tried a couple months, then gave up, and just skipped out on his life? Starting over?! I dunno, just doesn't feel like Stefan!

That was not a good episode especially for a season premiere.

but the promo was bad so that should have been the forshadowing:lol:

It's a continuos battlefield, trust me, one day I'll probably give up bc of exhaustion  :lmao: I think after 6 years I just know how their minds may work and if I stop believe in that, I should consider to leave the show  ;)

It felt strange to me too, TBH  I think his "giving up" won't last long, I think he's just lost and he fears to let himself have hope, his pain must be so unbarable, he lost his brother after all :( But I think it's just a phase, he'll be back on rail sooner than later

ban1o 10-02-2014 07:11 PM

Show don't tell. The offscreen mourning of Bonnie was the writers crappy attempt at making Elena seem less selfish and justify her focusing only on Damon on screen. Damon and Bonnie died at the same time. Am I supposed to believe Elena took turns mourning them? lol
