Personally I don't see any race or race inferred meaning in Bonnie being black and a witch. It never crossed my mind.

Not to derail this thread, but do you seriously believe Bonnie is treated like Caroline/Elena by the writers? In terms of love interest/story/airtime?

Well, we still don't know how this all ends yet so I think it's a little early to confirm that it is her, how do we know she doesn't have a partner or someone working with her, so really, until we know what is really going on for sure, I wouldn't say it's stupid. This could all just be a trick, we don't know yet.

All I can say at this point is that Alaric needs to stop dying in every episode....

And the whole race thing, I'm sure one could argue, but I don't see it personally, I see it more as a witch issue than race, they use witches, vamps use witches, everyone uses witches. If anything it isn't race getting shafted but the witches getting shafted by everyone.

And the whole airtime issue, you can argue race, but Matt and Tyler hardly get that much airtime either, it's more of a character bias than a race issue. They like certain characters more than others, those characters get more storylines.

She definitely doesn't get as much screentime and development as the rest of the characters but I don't think it's because of her race. I think it's mostly because she's a witch and witches on this shows are used by vampires and humans to get what they want done. Anyone could have been cast as Bonnie, in the books Bonnie isn't black but I'm sure the character would have been written the same no matter who got the part.

There are other characters on this show that get just as much airtime as Bonnie does like Matt, Tyler and even sometimes Jeremy. We won't see them for episodes at a time or if we do see them it's briefly like Matt practically living at the Mystic Grill or Tyler only being used when they need a werewolf involved just like when they pop in Bonnie whenever they need a witch involved.

You guys have mentioned the stuff that bugged me already but another thing, I really don't get what the writers are trying to make us think about Klaus. From his interactions with people in this ep it's like his history with everyone was kinda swept under the rug a little bit? Are all the Originals so gungho about being united as a family that they've completely forgiven him?

Why is it that when talking with Caroline he's all 'you should give me a chance and get to know me' she blows him off in a teehee aw shucks way as if she's just playing hard to get and not a "there's nothing you can say because you've purposely ruined the lives of people I care about" way...I mean I guess this complaint carries over from the last episode a bit. This is considering the fact that Caroline was supposed to be distracting him.

IDK the fact that she was even giggling 'what do you want me to say?' and entertaining it seemed iffy, we don't really get where she's coming from as viewers. She doesn't owe Klaus anything, so why would she? What's the purpose?

Also, I get that they had to have the Originals team up to stay alive or whatever but before that, why is everyone all cool with Klaus? Now that there's no ball that they're not allowed to screw up, why isn't there more tension between the siblings? I mean just 2 episodes ago Klaus was ready to dagger Elijah but stopped cold when Elijah reminded him he'd have Kol to deal with. Why is there no 'dealing with'? We get the idea that he's someone Klaus would be intimidated by or whatever, but in this ep Kol and Klaus are bffs who go out on the town together and he isn't holding a big grudge about being daggered for so long. I mean Kol has a throw away line about how Klaus daggered him so he owes him one and he uses that to coerce him to have fun with him? IDGI. Kol's supposed to be 'a lunatic' according to Rebekah and everything we've heard/seen about him so far, so why was Klaus-threatening-to-tear-out-his-liver-when-they-were-checking-out-Caroline such a nonentity? Just so they could show off Klaus' possessiveness over her for the viewers I suppose, but it seemed like Kol was someone who'd take that kind of thing from Klaus personally, especially considering what Klaus did to him. Yet he didn't. Why isn't he still bitter/mad at Klaus?

And when Rebekah said "I hated you when I learned that you killed their mother but after 1000 years you're the only one who never left me" or whatever to Klaus, um but he killed your mother and lied to you about it and daggered all of your brothers, girl. It's kinda hard for, say, Finn to be there for you when Klaus has him sleeping in a coffin for 900 years.

She was ready to leave him forever so that he'd always be alone just 2 episodes ago but now that Mommy dearest came back and s#it went down now she's cool with everything and wants to continue living with him? They're just going back to the way things were? Why has she suddenly forgiven him for all that he's done? Is it because she doesn't want to be alone or what? That wasn't made very clear. They have to find the new White Oak Tree now, I get that, but I feel like the tensions created in 3x13 between the family were never dealt with and that's weird.

IDK I really wanted to see more of the Originals dynamics with each other, especially after everything that Klaus did, but now it seems like it's all over with and they're all separated already. What a waste of such great potential :/

Okay so i loved the episode. Then again it was DS heavy. I will always first and foremost ship Team Salvatore above all else. And the last DS scene. Damon did the dirty work so Stefan would have too. He knew Stefan was off the human blood. It just shows how much they truly are family. Brothers above all else I tell you. I truly loved all their scenes tonight

okay and WTF for the ending. We always thought it was Meridtih now we just have to wait and see what happens...

and Seriously does Alaric need to die every single episode.

I agree. Who really cares what happened. Seriously the woman just came back into Bonnie's life after Bonnie hunted her down. The woman wouldn't have come back otherwise. So i could care less if Damon/Stefan had to flip a coin to see who killed her because it was to kill Abby not Bonnie.

No she doesn't. Then again though Tyler, Matt, Jeremy all get the same treatment. Once upon a time Caroline received the same treatment as well. I do hate that sometimes Bonnie just comes into play because they need her witch Power. All though to be fair her ancestors played a role in turning the originals so Bonnie and Abby had to pay the price to turn them back. I think Matt gets treated the worst on this show though. At least in the story line department. Bonnie at least has had a few Bonnie centric episodes where she was if not he star of the episode. Jeremy has had a few storylines his way where has the only major story line Matt has had was when he was a prop or a tool to get Caroline to do what Katherine wanted.

Oh and Elijah... I love him then hated him. Then the end loved him again. The note he left Elena with his realization that the words his mother spoke to him were basically the truth. I just loved it. I can't wait to see what more the do with Elijah

I ship the Salvatorre's too..
I know I don't post here often but I have to say this
It is time for someone to say it to both Damon and Stefan,, they will never love anyone more than they love each other...
and

I soooo want someone to come out and tell Elena the truth that if she'd just listened to Damon and Stefan Bonnie's mother would be alive..
Damon didn't kill her, Stefan didn't Elena signed that woman's death certificate.
She chose Elijah over everything else.
I think Damon should have stayed out of it, let Stefan get her back himself
I mean if I have to watch Elena hate either of the guys for this I might gag.. she has only herself to hate
uh ok
Rant over,,,, I think

I have to agree there. Both of them told Elena to just leave it alone. Granted she did feel trapped with Elijah and he pretty much baited the truth out of her. But she told him the truth because she truly didn't believe Elijah would do what he did to her. She was being quite naive there. Elena always tries to save everyone and sacrifice herself. When will she learn that something always goes wrong there and others end up dying instead.

I mean have I preference in the ship but i truly enjoy both pairings. Its just i ship DS above all else.

I'm not crazy the next episode looks like a back story. I love Damon but I want the series to move forward, not delve into the past.

Um, no, it was to kill Bonnie. Because Stefan/Damon said that Elena would hate them for killing her friend. Bonnie is Elena's friend, not Abby.

Klaus- I miss when you were psycho. This Caroline/Klaus ship isnt doing anything for me.

Bonnie/Abby - Meh. I never liked Bonnie and I never get attached to guest stars so I couldnt care less about her mother.

Elena - I understand she is the main character but how many people have to die to save her. How many save Elena plots are there going to be. we know she will never die.

Stefan/Damon - I honestly want them to go off together at the end of the show. I feel sometimes Elena brings them down.
Stefan didn't exactly turn back to himself.. at least I didnt see that.

He hasn't turned back to himself yet. I think he is still fighting the guilt. If he was completely back to himself he would have argued more with Damon and the killing of a Bennet. Damon was just being Damon and deflecting any feelings he might be having thus the idea of the coin toss. TBH... and i might catch flack here but the coin toss didn't bother me. Yes, it was over ending a human life but no matter what decision they made Elena would have died. A human would be dead regardless so ofcourse they chose Elena. They tried another option with the staking of Kol first and when that didn't work that had to go with Plan B... and no matter how ugly and awful it seemed it was what it was... A lack of choice. So like i said... maybe something is wrong with me but i found the coin toss amusing.

They never specifically mentioned Bonnie. The said a Bennet i believe. Im not 100% sure... Ill have to do a rewatch but i know it was never said that it was Bonnie.

Sure Bonnie gets treated badly on this show... Can't argue that. Strangely I hated Bonnie's character so much at first but she grew on me. I think around the time Bonnie and Jer were together I really adored her.... But i can't feel bad for her. A lot of the time she puts herself in the middle. She can say no. Her Ancestors could have said no. Elena and Bonnie are both screwed because of their past ancestors and whatever involvement they had with Vampires. Sure Elena makes dumb decision but the blame isn't all on her

Actually, she couldn't say no because apparently Esther has been drawing power from the Bennett witches all along, without their knowledge or consent.

I really don't see this as anything shocking, of course Damon and Stefan would not hesitate sacrificing Bonnie for Elena's sake, even if she is Elena's friend. The coin toss might be harsh but it's not like they are singing and dancing and cheering to kill her. This isn't something unexpected. Elena always comes first with those two, Bonnie was always doomed in this case. They may see her as a ally or maybe friendly but it's not like they are buddy buddy with her or places her as very important in their personal relationships.

I have to say that they acted as I thought they would act, Bonnie isn't that important to them, they might be sad about it but they aren't gonna break sweat over it. Bonnie in the end does not matter to them, not the way Elena does unfortunately.
