It was quite disturbing to see how slapped around and the like Elena got in this episode. No wonder in the next episode at least, from the promo it looks like she's going to learn to defend herself.

I loved the episode. I think it was brilliant and I was half of the time at the edge of my seat.

I can't believe Tyler is a werewolf :eek: I was so worried during the whole episode, I'm so relieved he didn't die.
Now I can't wait to see how this affects him. I really hope they don't turn him "evil" or other contrived crap like that. But I can't wait to see him deal with all of this.

The TC moment in the hall was so sweet and perfect :love:

It's nice to see Matt having his own storylines and him not being just a love interest. I love the Matt/Bonnie friendship moments. Not every boy/girl friendship in this show has to turn into a romantic one :lol:

Klaus was awesome. I love that he's so evil and a psychopath. It's nice to have a real villain in the show that doesn't care about anyone's feelings.
I'm thinking this Michael guy could be the first original vampire, Elijah's father. Because I can't see any other guy that Klaus would be afraid of.

Stefan is my favorite character and I'm loving his storyline this season. However I don't want this to get ruined with this compulsion thing. I don't mind if it lasts one or two episodes but I want Stefan to be Stefan. He was a ripper in the 20s flashback but he still was Stefan.

DE is finally to start growing on me :love: The chemistry is really good and I hope they continue to develop very slowly. Also Damon needs to keep his promise and never leave Elena again.

I'm glad Damon rejected Katherine all the time. That shows he's finally over her and no matter what she does his heart belongs to Elena.

YES ! She has been punched, bitten, munched and tortured(by the nurse) in in the SAME episode. I still can't get over it. I'm proud of her ! She needs to defend herself. :love:

What can I say? Everyone in this episode was amazing!

I can only say so much about Klaus, Stefan and Elena and Tyler. I thought either Elena or Tyler was going to die in this episode considering Klaus's hybrid plan hadn't been working and that it seemed he needed Elena dead.

And seeing Elena be abused so much in this episode saddens me. I mean first she gets caught and dragged to the gym, then she gets smacked really hard by Klaus, and is threatened to stay or they hurt her more severely, then she gets bitten by Rebekah, then chased by Stefan against his own will, then fed on by him after he loses his humanity, and just when you think everything is okay and she's been let go of by Klaus, it turns out the hospital staff have been compelled to drain her blood until she's near death. This is the worst I've ever seen her. :(

Still, it doesn't mean she's some rag doll that gets thrown or beaten around. She has had chances to fight back and she's taken those chances so she doesn't make herself totally weak. And when I saw Alaric training her in the promo, I thought, Elena the Vampire Slayer :lol:

When Stefan was chasing Elena and got to the cafeteria and broke the mop in half, first, I found it ironic that he and Elena have both broken mops in half. Second, when he did that, I actually thought he was going to stake himself because he wasn't going to take anymore of the compulsion and being forced to kill the love of his life. Either way, being forced to lose his humanity completely is still tragic. :(

And Klaus was so crazy in this episode! I loved it! Him finding out Elena was still alive and going after her this whole episode made him so awesome as a villain. He's kind of come a long way since we first knew him IMO.

This show is so amazing. It's shocking how good it is. I love it on like all levels. It's so glorious. I keep having to convince myself that it is too late to watch it again and then I'm all... but it's *only* 1 AM...

oh, btw. Matt finally became interesting to me again :lol:

I'm unsure about this episode. In large part I enjoyed it, however I find myself getting annoyed at small things and yes I know it's a TV programme and we're not suppose to pick it apart, but the Stefan Compulsion? I'm not a fan of that storyline. I think I will enjoy the next few episodes with him kicking about again,changing the cards back to when Damon first arrived and wasn't to be trusted with Elena. I definetely know I will enjoy Damon protecting her from Stefan but I hope she (pardon my french) grows a pair and gives him hell ( al la Angel looses his soul and buffy still kicks his ass).
I'm not entitely sure why Klaus doesn't compell Damon ?

Also I swooned first when Elena asked Damon where he was but once I snapped out of it I thought she had a right cheek asking him considering how she was with him in the last episode ( Granted he killed ric but hey ho)

Very excited for the next episode though!

Okay so I have an interesting theory on the reckoning.

So in disturbing behavior when we discovered that there is indeed a loophole for compulsion besides Vervain that got me to thinking. Bill wasn't influenced by Damon's compulsion because of his ability to block it out and focus on something. well we saw in the reckoning just how much Stefan truly loved/loves Elena. MY theory is that Stefan is just pretending to be compelled and is going along with Klaus to protect Elena. HOWEVER, I do think that Stefan may revel in the ability to not worry about draining Elena in the near future and actually may turn into a ripper all on his own without actually having compulsion at all

The similarities between Lana Lang (Smallville) and Elena are staggering. And now she's learning self-defense with Damon aka... Lana learning to box from Lex. I mean, come on!
