I think that until the moment he'll have even one little tiny hope he can bring back his buddy, he won't give up, he'll try everything, like Elena and Stefan

I can see them doing so Like calling a truce but keeping bickering about who knows Damon the most or things like this... but helping each other to bring him back in the end

I could imagine Alaric not wanting Enzo around Damon because he sees him as a bad influence.
