Although my sister made the terrible joke that Damon could return mid season and in the same episode Alaric dies. They won't dare :furious:

Alaric is pretty much immortal, they can't really kill him anymore :nod: His life was tied to Elena's. Elena died, so did Alaric. Alaric came back and Elena - well, she's still pretty much dead :shrug: So for now I'd say he's safe :D
