I also that concept, that a vampire needs permission to enter a house. Its one of my favourite vampire concepts

One of the things that I like about VD, is the way that they can go out in the sun. The whole concept of the "ring" that they have to wear or they go up in flames. I do like the Twilight books, but them being alright to go out in the sun bugs me. I the dark concept of vampires, its why I love that they have to go by moonlight only

Maybe its me but the whole idea with the vamps in twilight sparking in twilight to me illustrate that they were trying to go somewhere beyond the norm of what Vampiresm should be. I think it has worked to their success because yeah we wouldnt normally see vamps get sparkly in the sun but it also has its own Unique storyline in itself.. that to me makes it stand out from the rest of the vamps stories that I have read about. One think about twilight is that the message behind and all of vampires that these are characters that deal with being different from the norm the difference between VD and twilight (not comparing) is all Stephaine meyer did was just step it up a notch for twiight to be a bit more different then most vampire stories.. that is what the draw for me what twilight was. We are all expected that tehy are suppose to burn in the sunlight. BUT wait they sparkle which may sound ridiclous but it just adds into the vampires secret identity even further.

As oppose to teh VD and other vampire stories that were told before twilight they told it with the orignal intent and the premise of vampires while twilight is different which doesnt make them either of them less great just a different avenue to explore when it coems to vampire/romance does that make sense?

It makes sense

I do like the different may that Stephanie did the series, I liked the idea of them being able to go out in sunlight and its why I put the dazzling at the back of my mind. With that series, what intigued me the most was how a vampire was made. She made it that it was a virus that was injected and would turn a human into a vampire. Thats the difference that I liked the most, instead of a bite fully doing it or the human in turn would need to drink the markers blood like the norm is in vampire books

Well making vampires sparkle in Twilight didnt really make me think that it was an original idea that made the vampires special at all. The only thing I thought was that it was so weird for a vampire. I mean, a vampire has a definition, it's a dark creature in all meanings of the word. They live in the dark, they have a dark mind, they have a dark history, they do "dark things" etc. ...

And I dont at all think that Twilight was original, because I can see that some basic ideas were taken from VD.
"Human girl falls in love with a sexy, brooding vampire who is trying to live against his nature so he doesnt feed on people because he has a conscience of a human being."
And in my opinion there are better authors than Stephenie Meyer who wrote better Vampire books than her.

I hope that I managed to discuss this in an acceptable tone and that my opinion didnt offend anyone

I just think and IMO that we can't say that what Stephaine was trying to do something different but that just me. I like the difference because to me you have to have some variety in novels especially with Genres like vampiresm but I guess it depends on people tastes.

I can't really comment on Twilight as a whole, because I'm not a big fan of it, but SM's vampire sparkling in the sun worked for her story, I think. It explained why they aren't in the sun, but it took away from the danger (and yes, I did get the feeling that the vamps, especially Edward, were portrayed as a goodie, less dangerous than what vampires usually are. That's probably because we see the story from Bella's personal view, unlike in VD). It worked for her story.

But VD is a different universe to begin with and it's a lot darker. Most vampire stories are, so it wouldn't make sense to have sparkling vampires there.

i think the cool thing about the vampire shows, movie, books is that somehow theyre all differnet and i like different in each, it doesn't get boring youre constantly suprised about how these authors and directors like to portray them

Thats what I like too Authors keep surprising us and they are all different they all make their own world for their vampires, and its just amazing to read about the vampires with their history too with each author

The danger in becoming a vampire, yes Lynn That's one thing that Twilight lacked. The danger that she had written there were more of on the breaking the truce that they'd set up with the wolves, and also danger from other vampires. There's not much danger with natural forces like nature, sunlight, etc. There wasn't any danger about other people finding out.

What I like with VD is that it did have that dark air that vampire stories have. They can't go out on the sun without the ring, can't get inside another person's house without invitation, they can morph into another animal provided they are strong enough, the blood exchange to be a vampire, the feeding on human to ve stronger. I want those dark stuff. It makes the story much more complex.

In Anne Rice's vampires, they also need to drink the blood of their maker to be a vampire. They also die from sunlight unless you are an ancient one.

I love the whole changing into an animal that this series provided, it was different and interesting. Plus the freud between the brothers brought the danger to the books, it was really interesting

I mean I hope no one was getting the impression that I was getting defensive of twilight or anything I just think that the whole genre of vampiresm is so huge that there is so many different elements that authors can take with it that everyone can enjoy different aspects of the storytelling.

VD is more dark and edgy and it appealing because they deal with the dark characteristics of the characters alot more then twilight does. I mean twlight does but its more on their humane side of it which can be good too. I think twlight has the danger element but since it is told from Bella's POV then its going to be a bit different.

We all come here to discuss, so I don't think you need to worry. You presented your case just fine and to a certain point I agree with you. Since I have a slight problem with the vampires (maybe it's just cause Stephenie said her vampires are "Science" and so naturally, I'll argue) in Twilight, I'll disagree at some point though

I'm really in the middle when it comes to the Twilight vampires I don't mind them but I don't like them either cause I like the darker vampires. The ones that are dark and have the dark personality trents
