Well, I think in the end, she will understand and stay with him, but I do think she'll initially be afraid and break up with him.

What I found interesting is even though she was practically breaking up with him in the last episode, she never once took the necklace off.

I personally think they'll stay together. Of course things are not going to be very pleasant for a bit but I think Elena will, after the initial shock and fear, give him the benefit of the doubt. But even if they do break up, it won't be for long, like Jen said.

I noticed that as well, that she still kept wearing the necklace even though she wasn't very happy with him.

Yeah i agree. I think once she calms down and lets him explain, she'll see it will be cool to have a Vampire for a boyfriend
