You're absolutely right, AbsyntheMinded. They really killed her off way too soon. I think s3 would have been better with her in it (of course, unless the writing screwed her up.) I loved John, too. But I just love David Anders, so. He was fun to have around the Gilbert children. He really acted like a parent (albeit a stern one.) __________________

For her relationship with Rick too   It's still one of the saddest and most emotional deaths, maybe also bc it's one of the few that lasted   __________________

Yeah, especially since Isabel left him to become a vampire. It would have been interesting to see if they would have been able to make it work.
But yeah because it was actually a death that stuck, it makes that much more painful __________________

I'm glad they brought her back in the finale, it was so sweet to see her and Elena hugging and laughing, considering the last time they saw each other was when Klaus killed her in front of Elena's eyes
