I was so exciting to see the man that caused fear in Klaus (which is the most powerful being on the planet) and then he was killed in a blink of an eye.... talk about disappointment in a plot that was over hyped!!

He was the only person who actually threatened Klaus and as much as I hate to see my bb suffering, there was so much they could have done with that relationship, so much to explore.

Exactly my point!! Mikael was the reason Klaus was running for the past 1000 years!! That's a long time!!! He even made Klaus abandon his city NO back in the day... so it was an insult to have him killed so easily... it was like Klaus and his siblings were idiots running for so long

So anti-climatic. After he stopped burning I was like "that's it?"

pretty much... he was supposed to this Boogey Man of Vampires and then... poof! Gone.

I also think it would have been interesting if he had still been around when Esther came back. Having them interact again after the centuries apart could have been interesting

I cannot believe they wasted Sebastian Roche's awesomeness.

That would have been really interesting. I wonder what kind of husband he was. Probably the worst kind, but it would have been interesting to see.

Also don't forget you might be framing that within the modern context... Probably still a crap husband but in those days it would be different to modern day standards.

Well, I guess he was very crappy considering that the woman had an affair with the neighbor

Yeah, I know. Historically speaking, Mikael's possible behavior towards his wife could have been considered normal. I don't know much about vikings, so I can't say for sure what their view on marriage was. But the fact that Esther went to another man and possibly had a real relationship with him (he gave her a ring) says a lot, at least to me.

True, but there is also the assumption that they married for love... Could have been an arranged marriage or something... In the end Mikael was likely a crap husband... Very domineering at the very least.

Even in arranged marriages, people expected loyalty, especially from the wife. I agree with that.

Yep. Loyalty was always on the side the women but not expected of the men...
