Great episode but it seemed more like a series finale not a season finale.

This episode was too much like a series finale. I thought once the writers heard that the series was renewed that they would have rewrote the season finale to reflect that. I have a love hate relationship with This episode.

I hate that they ended "Always and forever". Especially since that was Klaus greatest fear. It made me wish Finn was back instead of Vincent. I liked that Kol came through for his family, and Freya didn't have to turn.

When Hope woke up the first thing she says is daddy! That was the first time Klaus ever heard her call him daddy. Klaus had been lock away in Marcel dungeon for 5 years, and he miss Hope growing up.

I hate that Marcel had the power to compel a original the supporting character should never ever be more powerful then your main character. Why are they giving Marcel the super hero treatment is beyond me.

I love that Rebecca had given Hope a necklace. That necklace was the one Rebecca got from her mom.

The happy endings:
Hooray! Rebecca got a happy ending. Although I'm not sure it should be with Marcel (he broke her heart too many times) I much rather it was Matt (and I hate Marty blue eyes) Marcel mention that there no one to stop them from getting together. Klaus had given them his approval over a 200 years ago. It was Marcel who was stopping them. He would not leave New Orleans. This time he did

The diamond Kol use to make Davina's engagement ring was the diamond he stole from Klaus's pocket at a party . He was there with Freya as his date. (He didn't know it at the time) .

Alaric greets Hayley at magic school . Alaric was one of the teachers in Mystic fall that Hayley talked to the other one was professor Shane.

Elijah in a bar playing a piano in France. Earlier in the season Hayley ask Elijah where would he go to be happy. He said a some place in France. Elijah promises to take Hayley to France.

So while I liked the happy endings. I notice that everyone got a happy ending but Klaus. I hate that the writer had undone everything that made the originals, Originals. He took away their sireline, he took away their power, he took away their original (now anyone can be a originals) now he took away their ability to be their for one another. Poor Klaus lost Cami, then he lost his freedom do to Marcel, then he lost his daughter, now he lost his family. Do the writers hate Klaus, or the audience?

They wrote as a series finale before they found out they were being pick up. However it seem like once they found out that they were pick up that they would have at least tweak it a little. I hate that Marcel is given the super heroes treatment (he now compel a original), and Klaus wound up alone The show is going to always be on the bubble especially if they kept treating their leading men like secondary characters. (Re: Elijah is abusive, Klaus doesn't deserve happiness) . What will season 5 be about?

There are a couple of questions that i need a answered:

Does Marcel and Vincent know that Davina is back? No one seem to mention her.

Does Klaus know that Marcel compel Elijah?

Who have possession of the knife that can kill Marcel?

Why did the hollow have to be imprisoned inside a original vampire from the Mikaelson family instead of a regular vampire, or usurper Marcel? After all the hollow is from Hayley's family lineage, not the Mikaelson.

^The CW really dropped the ball this year with the way they are renewing shows. I believe they filmed this season of The Originals MONTHS AGO, so they had no way of knowing whether they would be picked up for next year, when they filmed the finale this year. Unfortunately, they decided to show TO very late this year (originally it was going to air in October, wasn't it, and it was pushed back to premiere in MARCH.) So this ep works well as a series finale, if it had to, while leaving it somewhat open if it were allowed to continue--and I'm glad it will.

For indeed, like some of you, I have mixed feelings about it. It was really good for the characters. It wasn't as exciting as far as the plot or action goes--I've seem more exciting season finales. It partially is a sad ending to the show, although I wouldn't expect this show necessarily to have a happy ending.

It is as near a happy one as this show might have, though, for while it is definitely tragic for Klaus most of all that he is once again alone without his family, it was a good ending for his character in that it shows how much he has been redeemed. The redemption of Klaus' character is what I hope most for this show to accomplish, and it did. Klaus gave up EVERYTHING because he loves his daughter, and didn't do ANYTHING for his own happiness. I'm sad that he is alone, but I'm not as worried as the rest of them that he will become a monster again. Yes, he could..at least for a time...but something will always bring him back if he has come this far.

It doesn't make sense in a way, that Klaus should have a happy ending, because he really doesn't deserve one if you think about it, and yet in a way he IS happy, because he has finally become the man he has always wanted to be and is no longer like his father or worthless as his father saw him. He made amends to Marcel. He made amends to Rebekah in that speech with Marcel, by admitting that he was too insecure to let them be together, afraid that there would be no love left for him. I am sad that he no longer has any love in his life--I wish he would at least see Cami again. I am glad they showed him visiting her grave again. If the show had to end this way, I would be sad and a little disappointed, but I would still have hope that Freya would find a way in the future, even if we don't see that story being told. Fortunately, with the show being picked up, we will.

Elijah also seems to have a sad ending, not being able to be with Hope or Hayley, or his brother. However, in a way this is a good ending for him as well. For Elijah, it is the opposite situation of Klaus. Elijah has been TOO UNSELFISH all his life, always giving up his own needs for his family, particularly for his brother, who is the supernatural version of an addict. This season, Elijah was even willing to do the evil Klaus would usually do, which Elijah would not readily approve of, just so that Klaus wouldn't have to do it! Talk about codependent! He gave up Hayley before, wasn't able to be there for her emotionally, so that he could babysit Klaus and safeguard Klaus' kid--who Klaus didn't even want!

On one hand, I would be glad if the family could stay all together and be one big happy family. On the other hand, they are too dysfunctional to be allowed to stay together, because they are also too powerful, so they are too dangerous to be together (and now they are LITERALLY too powerful and dangerous to be together, with the Hollow in them.) It's a really interesting dynamic which I really like about the show. Is family power? Is it a good power if it puts itself above individual family needs and the needs of others, who also have families and deserve to live just as much? There are no easy answers but if I had to give one, I would say that LOVE is power. Sometimes that means family first, sometimes it means letting family members go their own ways out of love.

Lady Katherine, I thought Marcel saw Davina go, and so he knew about her, but they did drop the ball on this a little, seeing how important Davina supposedly is to Marcel. A little more time on this would have been good.

Yes I think Klaus knew that Elijah was compelled--he acted as such, but like he hoped somehow that Elijah would somehow still recognize him. I think E kind of did. (I love the reference to "The hundred dollar guy" here!)

I think Vincent chose the Mikaelsons to house the Hollow because it was easiest and quickest and the surest route to success, if they agreed. They had to act fast to get the Hollow out of Hope.

I too am glad that Freya didn't have to become a vampire. She like Elijah is always too willing to give up everything for the family; I'm glad she didn't push Keelin away in doing it, and that she didn't have to give up her magic after all. I do believe she, and maybe Hope--which is exciting---will find a way to defeat the Hollow once and for all and get it out of the family.

I would not be surprised if the show finally ends with all the vampire Mikaelsons dead though. That would be a happy ending actually, because they were created to be vampires against their wills and against nature, and like on TVD, need to be at peace. (Despite obvious vampire perks, in many ways it's not a happy life!)

They did drop the ball as far as renewing the show. Now I concern that next season will be light on originals. We will probaby have a show about Marcel,Vincent and Freya. Since Freya is the only one who doesn't have the hollow. I want Klaus (and all the originals ) to get a happy ending like Damon and Elena did.Klaus has change, and I felt a happier ending would have reflected that. Especially considering that Kol got a happy ending. I hope the show returns to it's original roots and focus on the family more.

I'm sure they will. I think Klaus will be too lonely without his family and without Hope and they will soon get together and the Hollow will be put back together somehow and the Originals will function as villains again--until Freya and Vincent can find a way to stop the Hollow another way rather than keeping them all apart.

I am glad this season wrapped up. It essentially means you can skip it all together and just go from 3 to 5 :lmao:... It was a really boring season, minus a few things.

The Marcel/Klaus conversation was nice, and long overdue, but it felt a bit dropped in there. Like the writers wanted to make sure to get it out before the series ended.

I can't believe they just destroyed Haylijah like this in a few episodes time? Like, literally 3 full seasons of build up and they thought the show was ending and yet they did this to them? I just dont understand. They could have been happy together for a while longer. At least they said I love you and got a last kiss. I have a feeling it may be the last one ever.

It was great to have Kol back. I'm bummed we didn't get to see Davina but its so cute that Kol wants to propose.

I appreciated the Klaus/Elijah scenes a lot. But making Elijah forget everything he knew/loved was so harsh. Why??? I love him and he gets the shaft so badly. :( At least he seemed somewhat happen in the end and Klaus seemed happy for him which is cute.

Marcel and Rebekah. Meh. Im over it. But whatever, i want them to try at a relationship and finally realize they dont work. Even though I dont see that happening.

I can't believe Hayley came to that decision. Elijah have never harmed Hayley. She claims it's the violence. But vampires and werewolves are both killers. Vampire kill to feed, and werewolves have to kill someone to turn. I am so sick of Hayley wish-washy ways.
Klaus saying Marcel is the better man sounds like a rehashed line from the vampire diaries, but it doesn't sound like something Klaus would ever ever say. The line sounded force and out of place. I'm also is not feeling Marcel. I went from not liking him, to I can't stand him.

The writers really f'ed up with the HE story.
