Episode was okay--nothing great. I'm thinking it's more of a set up for the finale next week.

Can't believe it's the finale next week. Seems like they will be jamming too much into one episode. I have so many questions...like where has Vincent been all this time? Is it possible he won't be going dark after all?

I may be in the minority, but I have really enjoyed this season. I didn't expect to. However, it is not without its flaws.

I LOVE the new Klaus (that scene between he and Hope this week was SO SWEET.) However, I miss Klaus being the center of the action. Don't necessarily want him going on a killing spree anytime soon, but it was nice to see him as the one who had the plan. Again, it doesn't have to be an evil plan, but it could still be crafty.

I also like that the show is exploring Freya as an individual by showing her struggles with vulnerability in falling in love. (Still think it would have been more interesting had she had a crush on Vincent, but whatever.)

And I LOVE Vincent.

HOWEVER, everyone used to revolve around THE ORIGINAL FAMILY--specifically KLAUS. Now, everyone revolves around VINCENT. It makes sense that Vincent has a bigger role to play this year, because he knows the most about the Hollow. And he's a scene stealer--I love him. However, he seems to be the protagonist, instead of Klaus, and Vincent is a minor character. When they try to make up for that by just making him disappear for an episode or two, you only miss him more!

They could have solved this dilemma by revealing Vincent as the real villain, instead of the Hollow. All signs point to it. It could still happen in the finale, but there isn't much time left to do it justice. It's as if they are afraid of being called predictable. Just because the audience predicts something will happen doesn't mean it has to be boring. It is called foreshadowing. It's not that it's been done or not done before that makes it exciting. It's how you do it.

The Hollow was more interesting when she was not flesh, anyway. She's not UN-interesting now, but they have built her up to be essentially unkillable, even as flesh and blood. Original vampires like Klaus can't even fight her--they can't even get near her. So there's not much for them to do. A witch will have to defeat her. You'd think FREYA would then fill that role, being one of the most powerful witches of all time AND an ORIGINAL, but instead, VINCENT is the focus.

I don't mean to be overly critical. There are a lot of elements to this season that I like:

Marcel and Klaus beginning to make peace.

Exploring Hayley's past

The "real Elijah" behind the red door.

"Ghosts" from the past, such as Cami, Davina, and Jackson, manifesting as images and memories in the characters' pasts.

The return of Rebekah and Marcel's relationship, which they had randomly dropped in earlier seasons.

The return of Rebekah and Kol.

Hope being a real character rather than a prop. However, she doesn't take the focus off the main characters. She's involved just enough. Plus the actress is pretty good. This week it was interesting to see her one scene as a scared child and the next a powerful being.

It's just the proportions are off. I hope they have time to finish the recipe by the finale.

The end of always and forever! It would make sense for it all to end like that

^You are right, that does sound like an interesting concept. If this happens and in the future they did get together it would be worse than before--they would LITERALLY be the most powerful/worst monster in the world.

This is the second episode after Davina return to life, and no one mention her. So do Marcel even know that Davina is back? It seem l like neither Vincent, nor Marcel know that Davina is back since there was no mention of her during the entire episodes. I was shock that Josh haven't told Marcel. But I'm even more shock that Davina hasn't visit them since she came back to life. Unless Davina told them off screen.

We also find out the Hilton's followers that Hope is more powerful then Davina. The hollow followers said that the hollow was locking herself inside one of the most powerful witch of our times. The hollow lock itself inside of Hope Mikaelson.

I love the scene when Hayley go to visit Hope and ask her what she was doing and she said drawing, but there is nothing on the page. Harley say goodbye to Hope and tried to give Hope a two finger kiss ( a term of endearment between mother and daughter) . Hayley kiss her 2 finger and held it up for Hope to do the same. The look that HollowHope gave Hayley was like a cross between "WTF!?", and disgusted. Summer Fontana is great as the hollow. She has a lot of range for someone so young. I love all her scene between her and Joseph Morgan. They truly seem like father and daughter. I wish we had some scenes between Hope and Elijah. But I guess that's not going to happen now that Hayley broke up with him. Harley broke up with Elijah because of the incident that happened in his subconscious behind the red door while he was technically dead. Because of that she once again come to the conclusion that she must take Hope away from her family (who probably can protect her better then Hayley ). This reminds me of the time she was going to run away with Jackson. It also reminds me of why I don't like Hayley. Harley is only a Mikaelson when it's suit her. The character of Hayley seem to be too judgmental, and wishy washy to be taken seriously.

Goodbye to Haylijah . Elijah deserve so much better.

Marcel still have a ban on everything Mikaelson. I truly am tried of Marcel's Mikaelson hate. His character always seem more of a enemy then a friend. I never got the idea that he ever cared for them at all. He always seem like he use them as a end to a means. Which makes it hard for me to feel anything for his character.

Rebecca goes to Marcel to ask if he would left the ban, and while he didn't say no, he also didn't say yes. I really have hope that would be a wake up call to Rebecca that Marcel don't love her and never had. I can't recall a time that Marcel ever showed Rebecca that he loved her. Not killing someone , do not mean that he loves her. It could just means that he still might have a use for her. If Rebecca return next season , let's hope she move on from Marcel for good.

Vincent tries to put the hollow back in the book. But fail . He tells the Mikaelson that the only way they going to defeat the hollow they have to promise never to see each other again. So does that means a end to always and forever? How will season five play out if the Mikaelsons won't be able to go never each other?

I knew it would be too easy to defeat the hollow.

Keelin/Freya are hot, loved theirs sex scene. I think they are pretty adorable together and I do like that Freya is getting a better storyline this season.

Rebekah again had barely any screen time and nothing to do. Her only important scene was basically Marcel rejecting her... AGAIN! How many times can they go round and round? They are the worst couple on the show HANDS DOWN imo. I cant stand them together.

Hayley being so rude to Elijah now just pisses me off. At this point they can just kill her because I cant tolerate the writing for her. It makes zero sense. Since when is she so anti vampire and against them all? Like, KLAUS IS HOPES FATHER. What does she think shes going to do on her own? I am so annoyed with her. GTFO!

I agree with everything you said. Marcel never seem like he loved Rebecca. it always seem like she was more into him than he was into her. He always put everything before her. They had a lot of opportunities to be together, but Marcel always had a excuse. As for Hayley the only thing I like about her was Elijah. Hayley come across as a big hypocrite. She's always blaming Klaus's family for everything, yet she simply over looked that the hollow was from her family.

Is Claire going to be a regular next season because if not then we are just gonna see the merry go round of fail between her and marcel continue with her constantly leaving and coming back. Ugh.

I agree about Hayley, I only liked her at first because of haylijah but tbh Haley always annoyed me as a character. And she was definitely a huge hypocrite! You were right when you said above that she just claimed them as family when she needed them.
