I cannot believe they never mentioned how Zach was part of the underwater filming scenes. I had heard about Nina and Paul for weeks but didn't know the Matt part until the finale promo. I wonder what it was like for Zach and Nina filming that.

I think they wanted to keep that scene a secret because they said the underwater scenes were the flashback scenes only.

I hope someone asks Zach what it was like for him to do those scenes.

Same I was surprised no one did at the Upfronts because technically we still don't know if he's alive but I bet he survives.

So what did everyone think about their flashback scenes in the finale? I really liked their scenes in the present, I love that Matt is just able to be there for her as a friend. Like he listens to what she says and is able to realize what she needs to hear to make her feel better.

I liked the flashback, it provided more information about how Elena viewed her life before. For me it kinda solidify that they are really each others' best friend. It's good to know that Matt is always there for her.

I just wondered how will this affect Matt's life, feelings, mind, etc now that Elena is a vampire and she died because she wanted him saved. Poor Matt.

I agree, I think he's a really good friend to her I find him to be very objective.

I think he will feel disappointed that his and Jeremy's plan actually had the opposite effect of what they wanted. I also think he will feel a bit of survivor's guilt about how he lives because Elena died. Although I don't get why it wasn't possible to both Matt and Elena out or break Elena's seatbelt and she swims out while Stefan carries Matt out, I think after awhile Matt will see how beautiful (if not all thought out) gesture Elena made when she decided to say that Matt should get saved first instead of her.

I definitely think this will be the case. I can see him and Jeremy blaming themselves for what happened to Elena and their plan backfiring. It will for sure make sense for Matt to have survivor's guilt. I was also wondering why it wasn't possible for Matt and Elena to be rescued at the same time. Elena was conscious right? She could have just swam out herself, but I guess the scene was used to show how selfless Elena can be putting her friends lives ahead of hers. It was a very touching moment given the fact that it mirrored Elena's father's actions in wanting to rescue Elena before himself in the past.

Matt's very protective of his friends and I could see him being emotionally unstable when he finds out about Elena's fate.

I'm sure he's going to feel very guilty but Elena will tell him it was her choice and not his fault.

Yea Elena was conscious but was caught by the seat belt which made me think well then maybe Stefan could have quickly broke the seat belt and Elena could have swam out while Stefan carries Matt but I think the show was trying to show how selfless Elena is. I think we're suppose to suspend disbelief but it's kind of hard when vampires are suppose to be so strong
