The Originals 1x17: "Moon Over Bourbon Street" Discussion. Airs March 18th, 8 PM EST

The Originals 1x17: Moon Over Bourbon Street

March 18th, 2014 @ 8:00 p.m. Eastern

Description : UNNATURAL ALLIANCES — After accusing Klaus (Joseph Morgan) of doing nothing while their control over the Quarter crumbles, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) makes a move to take matters into his own hands. He receives an intriguing offer of support from Francesca (guest star Peta Sergeant), a beautiful woman from a powerful New Orleans family. In an attempt to bring the warring factions of the city together, the Mikaelsons throw an extravagant party, where Klaus offers Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons) a tempting deal, Elijah and Hayely share a dance, and a violent fight comes to a surprising end. Finally, even as Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) works on a new path to power, he continues to help Cami (Leah Pipes) deal with her Uncle Kieran’s tragedy (guest star Todd Stashwick).

Ugh I'm glad I didn't watch this live since all I did was fastforward Camille scenes. I only liked the Davina scenes, and even though Klaus didn't do anything it was still nice to see him troll Elijah all day. A thousand years and this guy is still oblivious to getting prank'd by his brother right under his nose.

I don't think Rebekah would have saved this episode, but her loss is not good. Even though she never had a storyline, her being away has made Cami and Hayley twice as unbearable to watch. While I think Hayley fans may disagree, I'm sure everyone will agree about Cami.

As boring as Hayley is (and god that accent I swear 2G), she at least ties into the plot and is part of the war. Whereas Camille is completely irrelevant (even with her uncle telling her she's expected to take his place) and the writing just expects her to grow on us if they shove her down our throats with more screentime, seriously no one cares that she's crying waterworks about her uncle. NO. ONE. CARES. And making her jealous of Genevieve (and vice versa) was so much tryhard that it wasn't even funny. I've never seen TPTB keep shoving down a relationship that is never going to win viewers over, but I think they'll stay stubborn for now this season.

The only thing interesting about the wolves is their secret about siding with Klaus, the painting was a nice cliffhanger. I'm not disappointed that Genevieve barely had a lot of scenes besides being a sexual distraction, she's new, so she's not going to become a regular overnight. but I'm hoping that her fanbase or somewhat of her popularity sends her to season two and replaces the boredom that is Camille. Arrow apparently did it with Felicity, and it doesn't help that Gen is the only klaus-involved girl that fans tweet writers about (on TO).

This ep was not bad but was not impressive enough to make people excited for next week or two. Aside from Klaus' cliffhanger scheme, the ep just had too much forcing of supporting characters who no one really gives a crap about (the wolves, cami, and marcel). I think Davina was the only S.C. worth rooting for

Klaus and anybody that isn't as psychotic as him I will never buy! And I say that as a great big ole fan of the psycho. Any woman with even 1/3 of a brain falling for him deserves to lose the rest of her mind.

Marcel and Thierry taking the kingdom back. Really?!

Davina & Josh: They're cute as two buttons but someone please get these kids somewhere safe, preferably Salem for D and Transylvania for Josh.

This is every potential romantic pairing on this show.

Not what I signed-up for with a show titled THE ORIGINALS. I feel hexed! Move over Kieran.

Yeah, it was just the episode of supporting characters, and it wasn't fun since they are not even a quarter of appealing or interesting.

I get that we have to see more characters involved in this war, but the fact that they had a bunch of screen time while the main character just painted throughout the whole day was pissing me off. I've never been this disappointed in the season so far.

Dude... reading this, I'm not feeling sad about the fact that I didn't watch the episode at all.
It sounds like it was a snorefest

Meh, I'll probably skip this one. Nothing Flora describes interests me... Maybe I'll watch some Klelijah and Josh/Davina scenes though.

I may be wrong but I just think TPTB didn't have a plan when this spinoff got approved by the network, before it was picked up. I think it got approved way too late because it seemed like the network gave it a green light right after half the Mikaelsons got killed in TVD. Plec does not have the creativity to ignore fans and simply do whatever she wants, which is exactly what good writers like Whedon does. Good writers who can piss fans off but still keep the show moving and entertaining. I'm comparing her to Whedon since she seems to think they're one and the same. When she gets hate she probably thinks it means she's doing something right.

If the baby doesn't excite people next season then they will be obligated to do crossovers or beg Nate and Claire to join, which are two things that the network KNOWS fans want to see, rather than this flop cast, no matter how much denial TPTB is in right now.

I went on twitter last night to search "the originals" and the little suggestion box dropped down to show me that "the originals CANCELLED" was the most popular tag. I shouldn't laugh but I did, I don't want it cancelled though, I just need the staff to get their sht together.

I actually enjoyed last night's episode. I thought it got off to a really slow start, but it seems as if it was a transition episode and did a pretty nice job setting up future storylines, imo. A few things:

1) Although I can't stand Cami, I do like her with Marcel so much better than with Klaus. I have never bought into Klamille. It has been force fed to viewers too much, and when something has to be force fed to viewers, that is a pretty good indication that it does not work. The couple just completely lacks chemistry. Carcel on the other hand does have chemistry, and Cami lights up in her scenes with him in a way that she does not with Klaus or anybody else. I also think Marcel is better in his scenes with Cami than he was in his scenes with Rebekah. I don't like either character, but do like them together. How weird is that?
2) I didn't really miss Rebekah. It's not because I do not like her, I love her. It is because the writing for her character in this Marcel arc, including the ret-con where she tried to have Klaus killed, was ruining her character. It sure didn't take Marcel long to move on, since he has already jumped into bed with Cami. I knew Marcel was just using Rebekah all along! Klaus was right to try to protect her from him even if she is too dumb to see it. I 'd like to see Rebekah come back and kick Marcel's azz, which is what she should have done when , after everything, he chose NOLA over her AGAIN!
3) I want to see more Klaus and Genevieve! They are hot together! They need to give the character of Genevieve a backstory and give her a bigger role.
4) I like Hayley better with Jackson than Elijah. They are another couple where you can just feel the chemistry. I see a triangle in the making. Jackson is one of the more intriguing characters on the show, imo, and his introduction to the story adds so much more interest to Hayley's story. I would also like to see his character developed more.
5) Davina is adorable, and I kinda like the idea of her and Oliver, the badazz werewolf with a chip on his shoulder. I also like Davina and Josh's friendship.
6) Marcel was a bit more likeable this episode. He still wants everything that Klaus has though and will do whatever it takes to get it. I still don't get that. I guess he is just power-hungry and wants to be king. I see a Klaus/Cami/Marcel triangle coming, and I am begging the writers to please spare us!
7) So Klaus seems to be on the werewolves side over Elijah!

Well, that's it for now. I did like the episode, especially the ending montage! Oh, and Jackson kissed Hayley on the cheek, and it was sooooooo cute! Finally a couple on this show that I think I can ship!

I can't tolerate Jackson's voice as much as Hayley's, so I guess they belong together. The wolves are doing nothing for me. I only liked the secret deal with Klaus about the alliance, the war will get interesting now that they're a part of it but they still do not appeal to me at all.

Cami and Marcel do work better together than when they're around other characters or Klaus, but I fastforwarded their sex scene and bonding. If I don't care about them apart then I don't care about them in the same room either. I'm so bitter about the supporting cast to the point where I'm baffled at how anyone can get invested in them.

Lol..I thought I was thr only one who wasn't crazy for Jackson's voice. Reminds me of a bag of marbles. No offense to Nathan.

Respectfully, I don't think there's a whole lotta chemistry between Hayley and Jackson. The look she gave him when he kissed her on the cheek was like, "Umm, ookkkk." I don't also don't trust Jackson.

While I like CMD, Marcel reminds me of a sly fox. Maybe it's the way he slits his eyes now and then.. I never believed that he loved Rebekah.

I'm still massively shipping Haylijah. I think Hayley is trying to form her pack, but, is confused about what to do about Jackson. Elijah. Elijah I see as continuing to be calm, cool, and collected. Perhaps it's his HOT black V-neck sweater!? I keep saying this..he IS an Original. This comes with seniority and strength, and knowledge. Especially for him. He will win.

There was a lot of crazy in this episode.

Klaus doing nothing but painting and plotting? Klaus? Taking a powder on being a crazy tyranical king because he misses his little sister? Sweet, I suppose, we all miss Rebekah, but hardly believable.

Same with Marcel, he anit taking anything back. Any rag tag group of vamps he gets wont be worth anything. Lets say he has 100+ vamps on his side, either Klaus or Elijah could kill that amount by themselves. Let alone what the other vamps will do, or the witches, or even the humans.

It's just such a worthless idea.

And the werewolves. We're supposed to take them seriously? The werewolves here are like the witches on The Vampire Diaries, worthless. Your not scarying anyone. The One Ring or not, no one is intimidated by angry dogs.

Even hybrid those guys and their still pathetic, because hybrids and werewolves suck.

Elijah, well....your trying I guess. Thats gotta count for something...I guess.

Hayley...wolf boy is an idiot. You can do such much better. He probably still smells of swamp.

Rebekah, we miss you!!!

Davina and Josh, Klaus and Elijah

Everybody else

So anybody else think that Genevieve is the witch that Marcel has on his side? What was that weird round thing suppose to be? Maybe Genevieve is playing the clingy girl to Klaus so she can get inside info while she's actually teaming up with Marcel because she wants control?
