Morning, all!  You guys should read this review, It's funny but I can't post the quotes here because I don't want to upset anyone. Other reviews - quotes of interest: "it was Katherine who insightfully noted, “True love is not real unless it is returned.” This is Damon’s curse. He stood by Elena’s decision to trust Elijah and even allowed her to return to Elijah so that she would not break her promise — against his better judgment. Stefan also went to keep an eye on Jenna and protected her from Klaus. These were all the actions of a thoughtful and supporting boyfriend. One would expect no less from Stefan." "But what really made Stefan the better brother was when finally stepped up when he called Damon on his treatment of Andie. He kept calling Damon on the fact that he should not be compelling a woman into being his love slave and fresh blood-supply. His barbed comments, “Hey, what are you doing? She’s not a wind-up toy,” and “Tired of your little plaything already?” were to remind Damon that it was not right to treat humans as if they were not entitled to free-will. So as they verbally spared over whether Damon should have the right to maintain the status quo with Andie, Stefan hit home with the one reason that Damon should stop such devil-may-care attitude about his treatment of women. “You know, you can be in love with Elena all you want ’cause it means you’ll protect her. But I have the one thing that you never will — her respect.” That finally sunk in. If there is one thing Damon really wants is Elena’s respect. Like Elijah, he knows he cannot ask for her love, but he craves her respect. It is not enough to be protector and hero, she must respect him as a person otherwise there will never be any chance that one day she might love him. It was therefore a long time coming, when Damon finally saw the one thing impeding Elena’s love — the way he treats other women. If he does not respect them, how can Elena respect him? As the realization of how far he was ever earning Elena’s love, Damon harshly compelled Andie, “Get out of here before I kill you. Just go — now!” It is not enough to feel like a human being again, Damon had to learn that he must act like one too — and humans show compassion, they trust one another and they respect each other by how they treat them. By freeing Andie and seeing himself as reflected through Elena’s eyes, he saw the monster that he still is. Even though they only had a couple of scenes I loved them so much.
He trusts her enough to let her try to find a solution that will help anyone. Also the protecting line Next week looks like a tearjerker! __________________
