I thought the same thing. My shipper-biased mind.
 I'm a little apprehensive because I don't want DE to suddenly be dropped in an eagerness to get away from the books. I really hope they have GREAT chemistry, because if fans want it, the show will have to deliver I think. |

I cannot wait for the second episode already, when Elena meets Damon, though I was still hoping they did that mysterious meeting like in the books, where Elena was almost gonna kiss him and she didn't know who he was, unlike in the tv series where Damon introduces himself already as Stefan's brother, I wanted more mystery in their meeting

I also wanted the meeting from the books where she "forgot about Stefan", but I'm also kind of happy with the meeting here, because he kisses her hand. I'm a sucker for hand-kissing.

 Damon needs to stay away from all woman except Elena.  And go shirtless/naked for her only. In fact, they should be locked up in a room together, forever. Imagine that. |

They being? Damon and Elena will be in the room. Oh, then can shove the key under the door.
Someone will have to feed Elena. She might die from lack of blood if Damon feeds on her too often and she has no food. We need to plan this properly. |
